Hopsin has been open about his battle with depression, and the Pound Syndrome emcee spoke to VladTV about how he still suffers from it today, but he added that it’s not as bad as when he was in his early 20s. The conversation about his depression also tied into people trolling him online around the world, and Hopsin explained that it’s sometimes hard to ignore the hate. After telling us that he “hates playing the role” of a rapper, Hopsin shared his thoughts about online beefs, and he pointed out that he’s never experienced something similar in real life. Speaking more about his online persona, “The Pound” emcee said that he will never portray himself as flashy, because he believes that he’s just a normal person. Funk Volume may seem like a cocky bunch after recently issuing a $500,000 rap battle challenge to any and all comers. But during a recent stop by HNHH offices, the FV triad of Hopsin, Dizzy Wright, & Jarren Benton revealed itself to be a band of merry jokesters who get along famously with one another, in large part due to their musical bond. “Hop is the weird won… Jarren is our crazy friend,” said Wright. “I’m the stoner of the crew.” “I wouldn’t say I’m crazy, I would say I’m the intelligent one,” responded Benton. They reflect on early life growing up in their respective cities and considered what it would have been like if they had attended high school together. They then each shared career highlights and described their personal sound. Hopsin described himself as “just raw,” while Benton characterized his sound as “introspective, outlandish, ignorant, profound… I’m just like a human. It’s always special when we can get into a bigger space to show off some serious talent for our concert series and the Funk Volume crew came out for an extra special affair. Hopsin, Jarren Benton and Dizzy Wright showed up and showed out earlier this week as they spoke on their fan-boy moments. From Jarren’s run in with Scarface at Shade 45 to Hopsin not being able to meet Busta Rhymes, the trio jokes about meeting other artists and fans of their own. The fun goes far beyond this though as all three emcee’s take to the mic to perform.
