Saint Joe – Thinning Out The Heard [Album]

With 20 years in the game and a distinctive voice as his weapon, Saint Joe has become a staple of Denver’s rap scene, as well as through underground circles across the country. And his rep will only grow bigger and more renown with the release of ‘Thinning Out The Heard,’ his ambitious new album that showcases his hunger and talents. The record arrives several years in the making, and it definitely shows. This is a meticulously crafted effort that flows seamlessly from one track to the next. It’s an impressive feat for a project absolutely bursting with music (17 songs) and guest features, but Joe’s vision keeps it cohesive and tight. He deftly blends bravado and realness through bars that touch on the struggles of being creative. There’s a humility to his tough talk, which allows his words to transcend. “My music is painstakingly created for Hip-Hop heads and connoisseurs,” Joe says of his approach. “But I still remain fluid and switch the style up often for an all-around solid listening experience.” That fluid quality is evident in his strong ear for production. He’s acquired various notable producers on here that offer a diverse, albeit Boom bap-oriented, listening experience. There are soulful joints (Dialectic’s “Being Real”), grimy bangers (Shadowville’s “Lyrical Dexterity”), as well as funky summer cuts (Jomeezius The Genius’ “Thinning Out The Heard”). And in the wrong hands, that may lean toward the cliche of too many cooks in the kitchen, but Joe keeps it grounded. TOTH’s guest lineup

Saint Joe feat. West Philly Freck & Hypnautic – Being Real [Video]

For as long as the genre’s been around, rap has been deeply connected with authenticity and the idea of “being real.” And for Denver rapper Saint Joe, it’s a concept he both takes to heart and explores in his new music video for “Being Real” featuring West Philly Freck and Hypnautic (of acclaimed Colorado crew Top Flite Empire). Through a lens that harks back to VHS-like distortion, the three emcees share camera time while portraying realness through metaphorical imagery, sleek editing, and performance footage. In between shots of the rappers delivering their wordplay-laden verses, there are clear nods to mid-’90s crime film ‘Dead Presidents’ and the power of money. “Being Real” boasts a strings-laden, sample-flipping instrumental from Dialectic, and the track itself will appear on Joe’s upcoming album, ‘Thinning Out The Heard,’ which is set to drop Aug 5 through all major digital retailers via Joe’s K.R.A.K Productions, LLC imprint. The project also features the previous released single, “Homicide Fetish,” a gritty tune featuring Chris Rivers and Chino XL. “Being Real” can now be purchased off the iTunes pre-order for ‘Thinning Out the Heard,’ as the project’s second instant grat track. Saint Joe feat. Chris Rivers & Chino XL – Homicide Fetish [Video]

Two of the Bronx’s finest head out West in the cinematic new visuals for “Homicide Fetish,” a bullying banger from Colorado-based rapper Saint Joe and his guests, Chris Rivers and Chino XL. With Collective Cultures’ Jeremy Pape behind the lens, he plays host to an old-school cypher filled with wicked wordplay and blistering rhymes from all three vocalists. Shot in the streets of NYC to the mountains of Colorado, it’s worth noting that the homicide they’re committing here is clearly that of murdering mics, as the trifecta of emcees tear apart the monstrous instrumental from Norway’s, GVME OVER. “Homicide Fetish” stems from Saint Joe’s upcoming new album, “Thinning Out the Heard“, which is due out August 8th, through Joe’s own imprint, K.R.A.K. Productions, LLC. The LP will and will be available through all major digital retailers. In addition to Rivers and XL, The LP boasts a number of notable guest features from the likes of Dirtbag Dan, Reef the Lost Cauze, Cortez, Freck Billionaire, Spoke In Wordz, Morning Star, and more. Producers tapped include Charlie Brown, Dialectic, Jomeezius the Genius, Vic Jones, and Yon-P Beats among others. “Homicide Fetish” can now be purchased off the iTunes pre-order for “Thinning Out the Heard”, as the project’s debut instant grat track.
