Saint Joe feat. West Philly Freck & Hypnautic – Being Real [Video]

For as long as the genre’s been around, rap has been deeply connected with authenticity and the idea of “being real.” And for Denver rapper Saint Joe, it’s a concept he both takes to heart and explores in his new music video for “Being Real” featuring West Philly Freck and Hypnautic (of acclaimed Colorado crew Top Flite Empire).

Through a lens that harks back to VHS-like distortion, the three emcees share camera time while portraying realness through metaphorical imagery, sleek editing, and performance footage. In between shots of the rappers delivering their wordplay-laden verses, there are clear nods to mid-’90s crime film ‘Dead Presidents’ and the power of money.

“Being Real” boasts a strings-laden, sample-flipping instrumental from Dialectic, and the track itself will appear on Joe’s upcoming album, ‘Thinning Out The Heard,’ which is set to drop Aug 5 through all major digital retailers via Joe’s K.R.A.K Productions, LLC imprint. The project also features the previous released single, “Homicide Fetish,” a gritty tune featuring Chris Rivers and Chino XL.

“Being Real” can now be purchased off the iTunes pre-order for ‘Thinning Out the Heard,’ as the project’s second instant grat track. Stay tuned for more song leaks and visuals!
