Kurupt: “Kendrick & I Are Cool After My ‘King of NY’ Tirade” [Video]

Kurupt and his brother Roscoe reacted to the “We Can Freak It” rapper’s previous interview with VladTV, where he addressed Kendrick Lamar’s “King of New York” line on “Control.” Roscoe revealed that they were on tour when the interview dropped, but he knew his brother had “done something” after he started getting calls about the video. Kurupt clarified that his reaction “wasn’t about disrespecting or being angry with people, ” but it was rather about clearing the air on an old situation. When asked if he’d spoken to Kendrick since the video dropped, Kurupt revealed that they chopped it up, and it was “nothing but love” between them, which you can hear more about in the above clip.

Businessman can be added to Kurupt’s many list of accolades as the rapper showed off his special strains of medicinal marijuana in this VladTV exclusive. Kurupt explained his brand, “Moon Rock” isn’t something he invented himself, but a strain that he’s perfected with Dr. Zodiak. The medical cannabis line is only available in legal California dispensaries and in less than a year, his brand has become the most requested product in the business. Kurupt: “Suge Knight Changed My Life” [Video]

“Yeah, we’re cool, real cool; I ain’t got no problem with the old man,” Kurupt tells VladTV about his relationship with former Death Row C.E.O., Suge Knight. The D.P.G.C. lyricist then adds perspective to his comment offering, “Suge changed my life.” As the clip segues from Suge Knight to Crooked I, both formerly associated with Death Row, Kurupt contends that ever since the first time he heard the now Slaughterhouse lyricist, he was convinced of his inherent ability to rock the mic. He would later go on to mentor Crooked and other emerging MCs, “I would just talk to them and give them that influence they need.” Kurupt then recalls an epic memory of when he visited New York City’s legendary spot the Tunnel, and single-handedly decimated each MC who attempted to battle him. “I was the Antichrist of the mic; I served MCs for a living.”

Kurupt: “Rap Is Not About a Coast; It’s About Making Good Music” [Video]

Kurupt’s classic lyricism has been etched into many classic Hip-Hop tracks, and the Golden Era giant chopped it up with VladTV concerning his recent release, ‘Kurupt’s Moon Rocks,’ and what he thinks about the current state of Hip-Hop. The “What Would You Do” wordsmith went on to discuss the perceived rise and fall of the West Coast, saying that the transition has allowed different artists the opportunity to come to the forefront. He contends, “The difference is that it’s new music and new talent. So, you know, it changes; you know what I’m saying. I think it’s hard for people to accept that change, but it’s all good.” He soon expounds upon that thought and offers, “Music isn’t about a coast; music is about who puts out a good project. And that’s the problem…It’s not about the coast; it’s about the music, man. And I think that’s where we get lost at…It’s about how Hip-Hop is the number one form of music, today.” Check out the full clip and see if you agree with Kurupt’s stance on how he views good music.

Kurupt On ’92 L.A. Riots & Current Instances Of Police Brutality [Video]

Kurupt is a Philly emcee whose lyricism flourished as he worked to establish himself as one of West-coast’s eminent MCs. Within this portion of his VladTV exclusive interview, the proven wordsmith speaks about the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, which were sparked by the unprovoked beating of Rodney King by Los Angeles police officers. While Kurupt professes that he’s “not a criminal” he recalls hitting the streets those days along with Warren G and The D.O.C. “We was at Dr. Dre’s house watching it on television and Warren G was like, ‘Ay, Cuz, let’s go into the streets,’ and we went into ‘the jungles.’ It was the first time that Bloods walked up to me and was like, ‘what’s Kurupt, Blood. Man, I f**k with your sh*t.’ I was shocked like, ‘damn.’ I was accepted in the jungles,” he recalls. Drawing a parallel between the oppression that minorities experienced back in the ’90’s to today, Kurupt says, “there’s too many incidents” of police brutality and many more that have never “touched the airwaves and have not got attention.” As the convo continues Kurupt says that he consciously tries to mitigate his interaction with the police, which is the main reason whythat he doesn’t drive. “I’d rather for my brother to drive, or someone else who has better luck,” he states, as he was always pulled over when he was behind the wheel. Even though there’s been more attention placed on police officers who blatantly disregard their inherent duties, Kurupt does not

Kurupt: “I Knew I Was Official Once Dr. Dre Put Me On ‘The Chronic'” [Video]

“When it’s not right, you gon’ do it 360 times,” said rapper Kurupt when asked about the musical process with Dr. Dre. Mr. “One-Take Willie From Philly” was always up for the task in his prime, and in this exclusive clip he takes a look back to the time when he first began working with the legendary Death Row Records. “The first record Dr. Dre allowed me to be on was [The Chronic’s] ‘Stranded On Death Row’” remembers Kurupt. “That’s when I knew I was officially in.” Also known as Young Gotti, he says “making the cut” with Dre is “not easy,” but with a super confident grin he replies that he made it happen every time. Check out what else Kurupt had to say about working with the Cali enterprise, and how these days he has to work a bit harder to make his tracks “perfection,” above.
