Onyx On New Album And Film Project With Russell Simmons [Video]

Hip-Hop group Onyx sat down with VladTV to discuss their long-awaited LP “Wakedafucup,” saying they wanted to create an album that could be considered timeless, and one that their day one fans would love without feeling dated. Fredro Starr also shared that on their most recent tour, most of the crowd is comprised of young people who follow the group. When asked how they feel about acquiring young fans when most gravitate towards a more commercially friendly sound, Starr says he thinks they have the same fans as artists like Lil Wayne, and that their music just happens to be for a different moment or mindstate. Sticky Fingaz then discusses his upcoming film starring Starr and produced by Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons, called “Cain & Abel.” The all-rap film is a follow-up to their previous release, “Day in the Life,” which Simmons saw and was inspired to reach out to the group to be a part of the new project.

Onyx sat down for an exclusive interview with VladTV, where they opened up about their past working relationship with 50 Cent. When asked about their beef, Fredro is quick to say that there’s nothing to talk about. He adds that everything between them is in the past and says that both sides are now focused on just making money. Fredro ended the conversation by saying he’s “about the future,” which includes the group’s new album “Wakedafucup,” and a rap opera with Russell Simmons called “Cain and Abel.”

Oh No feat. Sticky Fingaz – Whoop Ass [Audio x Download]

Oh No (born Michael Jackson; younger brother of Madlib and son of singer Otis Jackson) was granted unprecedented access to the Rudy Ray Moore / Dolemite audio archives and given free rein to slice, dice, chop and sample his way through the classic-yet-absolutely-filthy catalog. He was able to use legendary material from The Human Tornado, Petey Wheatstraw, the Dolemite Soundtrack and more, plus a multitude of previously unreleased and alternate acapellas and instrumentals. The end result is Ohnomite (available on 6-5-2012), a 19 track head-banging extravaganza of sloppy funk, dirty soul, and brainy lyricism, all aimed at one thing- making your head nod and your ass shake. And when you add to that guests spots from the likes of MF Doom, Evidence, Phife Dawg, The Alchemist, Erick Sermon, Rapper Pooh, MED, Guilty Simpson, Roc Marciano, Sticky Fingaz, Chino XL, Roc C, Prozack Turner, Termanology, Frank Nitt and more, and you are left with a one of a kind album from a one of a kind musician. Ohnomite- 19 songs of pure whoop ass from Oh No and Dolemite! [audio:http://www.trackblasters.com/downloads/Oh No feat. Sticky Fingaz – Whoop Ass.mp3] Download here
