Mic Handz – The Prelude (Just Tired Of Waiting) [Mixtape]

THE PRELUDE is a restless Mic Handz effort to pacify his inability to wait until his primary project MY CoDEEZ is polished and ready for release. It has been 2 years since Mic Handz released anything by way of a project so what he has done is pulled his favorite songs off of his personal playlist and packaged it for his fans, family and friends… He felt that is was almost disrespectful not to feed the requests for more material and he respects his listeners far to much to allow that to stand…So until the MY CoDEEZ project is ready please sit back… Press play and enjoy THE PRELUDE. The Stretch & Bobbito Show w/ DJ Riz, Eclipse, Fat Joe & Big Pun 89.9 WKCR (August 31, 1995) [Audio]

“I always recorded my guest sets on KCR so I couldn’t for the life of me understand why I wouldn’t have the one Riz and I did when Fat Joe brought up Big Pun for the first time (along w/Armageddon & Keith Nut). Come to find out I forgot to label the tapes with the date. Anyway, seems only fitting to post this today on Pun’s birthday. Joe starts the interview (151:40) and plays some joints off his album before introducing everyone to the mic (167:42). I threw on “Broken Language” and Pun set it all off. Other dope moments were the Pumpkinhead, Natural Elements and O.C./Poops promos that Bob started off the night with before Riz got on (10:20) and showed off (see Nas Remix). Bobbito plays a demo set in the middle of the show (113:15) before Terror Squad arrives and then I close it out (179:22). And what would a Stretch & Bobbito show be without comedy from Lord Sear (228:30) For more insight on this Pun appearance check out the movie “Stretch & Bobbito: Radio That Changed Lives”.” – DJ Eclipse

El Gant – Spray Music [EP]

An uzi’s firing rate is precisely six hundred rounds per minute. Neither one of us are counting bars, but El Gant’s presentation here over 42 Keez’s canvas could very well be the closest representation of a lyrical uzi in 2015. Spray Music, cosigns itself that Gant’s emceeing abilities have been doing pushups since the acclaimed 2014 release of Beast Academy. With 42 Keez’s Chicago-driven soundscape and a universally accepted and respectable rhyme display. In opposition, don’t get the potential screwed up. Gant is always building with and in the lab with veteran emcees and true schoolers, alongside successful solo strives and his IV League posse (Ras Kass, Shabaam Sahdeeq, El Da Sensei and more). Trust is a must – enjoy. Spray Music by El Gant

Blu & Klaus Layer – The Boys (Klaus Layer Remix) [Audio]

Whether you’re here for the rhymes or the stereophonic instrumental, this is a surreal piece of work that’s worth adding to your collection. Los Angeles’s Blu offers up a semi-abstract “California Kaleidoscope” of track on which he paints a picture of police brutality, as German producer Klaus Layer’s stuttering / fluttering drums and organic samples weave themselves in and out of the dreamlike mix. “Stop the violence.” The Boys (45) by Blu & Klaus Layer
