DJ Shadow feat. Run The Jewels – Nobody Speak [Video]

DJ Shadow has unveiled the music video for the song “Nobody Speak” featuring Run The Jewels, a standout track from his latest album ‘The Mountain Will Fall,’ out now on Mass Appeal Records. The video depicts a meeting of leaders that quickly descends into chaos, a scene not unlike what is unfolding in governments around the globe. It also features appearances by DJ Shadow and Run The Jewels. Says DJ Shadow: “We wanted to make a positive, life-affirming video that captures politicians at their election-year best. We got this instead.” Says Run The Jewels’ Killer Mike: “It’s such a dope video. It’s what I really wish Trump and Hillary would just do and get it over with…And even in that fight I think Hillary would win – and that’s not an endorsement.” The video was directed by Sam Pilling and produced by Pulse Films, stars Igor Tsyshkevych and Ian Bailey, and was shot in NYC, London and Ukraine.

Killer Mike Compares J. Cole To Nas & Explains Why They Deserve Grammys [Video]

In this exclusive clip Killer Mike is all about the music as he praises top lyricists from the past and present, recounts Big Boi putting him on game and details what could be in store for fans in the future. As the story goes, Mike was given his big break by Big Boi and went on to win a Grammy in 2003 for “The Whole World.” These days the two have over a handful of tracks, enough where they could drop an album – if they so choose. Killer Mike also reveals him and El-P “were in the running” to be nominated for a Grammy award for their outstanding Run the Jewels 2 album. “We’re still the little guys,” he jokingly reasoned as he applauded Kendrick for his wins. Mike then went on to praise J. Cole for not having any features on 2014 Forest Hills Drive while comparing it to Nas’ debut album, noting both artists deserve to win Grammys for their work. “He has given a cultural expectation to a group of kids who didn’t have that marker before,” Killer Mike said of J. Cole.

Killer Mike On Putting Out Free Music: “Why Pretend This Is The ‘Puffy Era’?” [Video]

Killer Mike has enjoyed a successful career that has spanned over a decade, and the Atlanta rapper spoke exclusively with VladTV about reinventing himself. He explained to us that he believes his longevity is due in part to him never stopping to “commemorate or commiserate” anything along the way, and Killer Mike added that he’s also always tried to outdo himself every year. Moving along, the “Ric Flair” rapper explained how his group with El-P, Run the Jewels, came about, and how he knew that El-P was supposed to produce for him the first time they met in the studio. Killer Mike also spoke about why they decided to put their music out for free, as he stated, “Why pretend like this is the f***ing Puffy era? Like you’re going to sell a million [records] and shine on n****s. Get the f*** outta here.” Check out more of what Killer Mike had to say in the above interview, including how he and El-P raised money for Mike Brown and Eric Garner’s family.

DJ Shadow feat. Run The Jewels – Nobody Speak [Audio]

DJ Shadow has unveiled a new song from his forthcoming album “The Mountain Will Fall“. The track is titled “Nobody Speak”, a collaboration with Run The Jewels. “The Mountain Will Fall” will be released June 24 on Mass Appeal Records and includes the previously released title-track, deemed “rolling, meditative” by Vice Noisey and premiered by Pitchfork along with an in-depth first interview with DJ Shadow. “Occasionally, I make a beat that demands a specific vocal treatment and attitude. In the case of ‘Nobody Speak,’ I wasn’t going to settle for anyone other than Run The Jewels; in my mind, it was them or no one. Fortunately, they agreed, and they took the track to a place I could never get to on my own. That’s the definition of a rewarding collaboration.” – DJ Shadow “Shadow is a legend and a friend. When he makes music he often changes music forever. When he asked us to jump on the record we didn’t blink.” – El-P of Run The Jewels “Nobody Speak” is part of the Run The Jewels’ Record Store Day release this Saturday. The RSD exclusive, dubbed “VRTJ” is a Virtual Reality cardboard viewer that comes with a download code for the collaborative track. DJ Shadow will host three Beats 1 shows this year, the first of which will air in June. The show will be called DJ Shadow Presents: #radioface.
