LoVel – Somebody [Audio x Download]

Harlem singer-producer LoVel returns with a new single, “Somebody,” that blends infectious island vibes with plenty of bedroom glances for our first sampling of his next project, ‘Passenger.’ The addictive track is all meticulously layered vocals, sensual songwriting, and wonderfully crafted dancehall charm—the last of which comes via the mind of the French-based production duo, SK Beatz. The bouncy backdrop is a choice setting for LoVel to show off his vocal talents. In the case of “Somebody,” LoVel distinctively uses his vocals as an instrument, and as a means of adding superb depth. Playing backup vocalist to himself, LoVel creates a lush and engaging listening experience—perfect for a lowkey banger like this. And after a strong past few years that included 2015’s stellar ‘Backseat Memories’ EP, LoVel is ready to release something new in the form of ‘Passenger.’ While details remain slim around the project, a tentative release date is set for early Spring. “Somebody” is now available for stream through all major digital retail outlets and streaming platforms.

LoVel – I Swear [Audio]

Harlem singer/producer LoVel delivers a lush and atmospheric new single, “I Swear,” that embraces living and enjoying the good life. For the multi-talented artist, that means concocting the perfect recipe of finding the right girl for the night, and throwing back tequila shots until last call. The hypnotizing track arrives on the heels of LoVel’s recent, wave-making release of his remix for “Me Too,” which features XXL Freshman and bubbling rapper, Dave East. While that cut had a distinctive and fitting Hip-Hop vibe to it, “I Swear” embraces modern R&B’s flirtations with more spacious sounds. It’s enveloping and airy, yet also grounded by a rich low-end supplying plenty of bass. Despite the varied sonics, both tracks were produced by the same duo, LoVel and his go-to collaborator, Al-Taquan. And when you also consider the work they did on LoVel’s well received EP, Backseat Memories, it becomes clear that these are two artists certainly worth checking for. “I Swear” is set to be featured on LoVel’s forthcoming release, ‘Passenger,’ which is the follow-up to ‘Backseat Memories,’ and the second part of a three part series. The track is now available through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms through LoVel’s recently launched imprint, The Legaxy Era.

LoVel feat. Dave East – Me Too (Remix) [Audio]

After making noise last year with his ‘Backseat Memories’ EP, multi-talented artist LoVel returns to one of its standout tracks, “Me Too,” for a remix featuring fellow Harlem native and rising rapper, Dave East. For those not paying attention, you should know that East has been on an absolute tear this year. In addition to making the 2016 XXL Freshmen list, he has released a string of bangers and loosies. Those perpetually dope tracks—and compelling collabos like this one—are all part of the campaign for his hopefully soon-coming ‘Kairi Chanel’ project. And on “Me Too,” East sounds right at home on the low-key, atmospheric instrumentation provided by Lee Al-Taquan. LoVel and East make for a formidable duo, not just because of their varied approaches, but because this remix will definitely take some of y’all back. Remember when R&B/Rap hybrid remixes like this would drop all the time in the mid-to-late ‘90s? Yeah, “Me Too” is right there with ‘em. LoVel’s remix of “Me Too” is now available for stream, and can be purchased for download through all major digital retailers, through his new imprint, The Legaxy Era, via EMPIRE Distribution.

R&B singer LoVel teams up with Nitty Scott, MC for his new single, “College”. His debut LP “Somewhere Someday” will be dropping in March. You can download “College” on LoVel’s Soundloud page. College: a place where the young minds of tomorrow go to shape themselves by getting a better understanding of the world around them. But between the initial free-for-all that goes down during a new year and last minute cram sessions for finals, lies the quintessential stress reliever: partying. Whether you’re rolling deep with your comrades on a three day bender or you decide to lay low and kick it with your bun-bun, we all need some time to decompress. If you’re like the upcoming Harlem-based R&B talent, LoVel, you’ve probably experienced some nights where that red cup seems bottomless, and some mornings where your bedside company reminds you why you’re living out the best four, maybe five years of your life. Packed with a crisp guitar piece that leads into a mesmerizing rush of torpid bass and tight hi-hats “College” is that late night cut that’ll close the party on the right note. Lyrically, LoVel aims to piece together the night; with the always debonair, Nitty Scott, MC, providing a well placed guest verse, the track comes across as a sensual, hot and cold experience.
