Has-Lo – Jason Statham [Audio x Download]

Keeping it original is what Has-Lo does best, so he continues to do so by releasing an impressive cut titled “Jason Statham”. Named after the well-known British action hero, the track showcases the Philadelphia rapper’s lyrical ability by laying vocals over gritty production from Odin Smith. Not only does the song coincide with appropriate title, but you can well and truly imagine it being in the background of a famous movie scene. We last heard Has-Lo appear as a guest L’Orange’s fantastic The Mad Writer project, which also demonstrates what the artist can do on the mic. Has-Lo – Stained Glass (Prod. Apollo Brown) / Make A Bet (Prod. !llmind) [Audio x Download]

The cold and calculated MC, Has-Lo, has quietly smoldered on his acclaimed debut, In Case I Don’t Make It. Teetering between street and backpack, Has-Lo raps with an analytical mind and a streetwise tongue. Earlier today, Has-Lo debuted two songs at Passion of the Weiss and released his first vinyl 45. “Stained Glass” finds Has spitting over powerful horns courtesy of Apollo Brown. Brown is a master of restraint, allowing the beat to come into it’s own with minimal meddling, and Has-Lo responds with a calculated and detailed set of verses, no bar is by accident. With a subtle confidence, the East Coast spitter intricately compares his style to the loading of a bullet in a burner’s chamber. On the B side, “Make A Bet”, Has-Lo is less confident and a bit more paranoid, as if he’s racing against the clock. Illmind’s driving beat culminates with a jarring synth arrangement at the chorus that emphasizes the feeling of pursuit: “put the hours on the clock, let your god count it down”. Has-Lo spits with the vision of a veteran. His words are careful and deliberate; his flow is patient and steady. Proving that some still take the craft of writing dead serious, Has-Lo is a genuine lyricist. MMG 7" Series: Has-Lo by Has-Lo

Has-Lo – Light Years [Audio x Download]

“Light Years” is J-Zone’s vision of the track Kinetic Energy. J-Zone (who just released his book “Root for the Villain: Rap, Bullshit, and a Celebration of Failure”) stirs the music from a swirling mass of potential into kinetic blend of cries, screams, stomps, crashes, drums, and bass that Has-Lo bombs over like Hasan Izz-Al-Din. Has proceeds to stroll through his worldview, spitting politics and social commentary in the vernacular of the gods. The result is a track brimming with energy and sharp word play. Light Years (prod. J-Zone) by Has-Lo

Has-Lo – Face In Disguise [Audio x Download]

“Face In Disguise” is Build Jewelz reconstituted by Has-Lo and Exile. The producer has crafted music for Mobb Deep, Akon and Snoop Dogg, not to mention his classic long player with Blu: Below The Heavens. Exile lends this track an intense musical backdrop full strings and monastic chanting that brings out a religious tone that matches Has-Lo’s lyrical prose. Hope and faith are pitted against an unyielding external reality that Has-Lo depicts with the wordplay of a virtuoso. Face In Disguise | prod. Exile by Has-Lo
