Rhythm Roulette w/ K-Def [Video]

For the latest episode of Rhythm Roulette, we got up with New Jersey representative K-Def. (His discography runs long, but most known him as the man responsible for the complex-ass chop on Lord Of The Underground’s hit single “Chief Rocka,” as well as the scratches.) The DJ and producer brought us to Irish Records in Jersey City, where he picked out some gems, including The Witch Doctor by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, and Lee Morgan’s Cornbread. With regime changes, trend cycles, and technological advancements, producer K-Def is in a class of “rare breed” artists that pridefully embody the title veteran. So much can be said about what he has accomplished throughout his 20 plus year career, but specifically in 2015, K’s output and quality have stayed atop the conversation. Building a foundation at Redefinition Records, who adopted the catchphrase “Quality Over Quantity”, is not a question of how much, but rather how good.

K-Def feat. Blu – The Boys [Audio]

“The Boys” will appear on K-Def’s upcoming “The Way It Was” LP, which consists of “a collection of rarities and unheard tracks from the vaults” along with “a handful of new vocal collaborations,” according the project’s cover. K-Def announced two more projects, one is called “Back to the Beat Vol. 2″ with 45 King” and another “The Unpredictable Gemini”.
