Virginia-based emcee and producer Substantial presents a thought-provoking challenge with his fifth solo studio album, “Adultish”.

The LP delves into the complex dilemma faced by hip-hop artists as they age within the culture. It explores how they can maintain their creative passion while avoiding feelings of bitterness and resentment towards younger generations. With an extensive discography dating back to his jazz-inspired debut “To This Union A Sun Was Born” in 2001 (featuring beatwork by the late Nujabes), Substantial’s perspective on this matter comes from a wealth of experience.

Made up of 15 songs, “Adultish” features an impressive lineup of guest artists, including luminaries like Shing02, Uyama Hiroto, Mega Ran, Marcus D, Stephanie Gayle, T.Lucas, Tamera Wellons, MLLN, Javier Starks, Malcolm Jackson, DJ RBI, DJ Jav, Matthew Shell and Black Root.
