Mélat – No Promises [Video]

Texas based songstress Mélat returns to her 2019 project “After All: Episode One” with a new visual for “No Promises”.

If we had known in December how different our lives would look today, would we have done anything different? Would we have had different conversations, laughed more, drank more, or maybe we would’ve let the night last until we all passed out, filled to the brim with the joy of being surrounded by friends. “No Promises” was a labor of love. Friends coming together to create art, commemorating camaraderie. How ironic that I wrote a song talking about being let down by someone’s promises when in real life, we were never promised the luxury of being able to gather together like this, something I took for granted. We were never promised that friendships would last forever either, something I’m working on. Reality takes no prisoners, the least we can do is seize the moment and realize the good times when they happen and honor those times with love, forgiveness, and respect. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that nothing is promised. I’ve held this video for a minute because it never felt right to drop it. But now what was once a depiction of love in the moment is a time capsule. Bittersweet but beautiful all the same.
