Jay Electronica – Into The Light (Trailer) [Video]

Jay Electronica is full of mystery, and like a magician, his character lends itself to new ways of seeing things that would seem impossible to many. Several years ago, Jay and I traveled to the other side of the Earth. We left a piece of ourselves there. In exchange, we brought back something entirely new, and the images that follow are a glimpse into that magic for everyone who’s curious. Traveling across strange lands, we were invited to attend sacred ceremonies of sacrifice and parading celebrations of ancient descent. We trekked together towards the horizon and explored crowded monasteries, solitary mountain top temples, slums of filthy laughing children, and rivers running with blood and flower petals. I documented as Jay walked a river of burning human bodies. We crash landed a helicopter in the Himalayas, and he delivered rice and clean water to a school in a refugee tent city. The result was a collage of movements and emotion. The experience in itself was a perfect circle. A question with no answers. Full of laughter and tears, but no love story or plot twists. We searched for absolute truth in life, and the only undeniable answer we found was death. Since returning, I have been working on a film based on this journey called Into the Light. It is experimental in form and best described as a meditation in un-learning. A movement in seeing without watching, hearing without listening, and the brave exploration of spirit. Nick Huff Barili of Hard Knock TV, in collaboration with www.GRAMMY.com sits down with Wiz Khalifa for in-depth interview. In part 1 Wiz talks to Nick Huff Barili about the meaning and inspiration behind his new album Blacc Hollywood, working with producer Detail on We Dem Boyz plus getting Nas on remix. As the interview continues Wiz shares his creative process for coming up with songs and talks about balancing music, being an entrepreneur and raising a his son. Wiz continues by shedding some light into twitter back and forth he had with critic Brandon Soderberg of Spin Magazine. Wiz also walks us through his inspiration behind one of our favorite tracks on the album House On The Hills. “Its really hard to escape the stereotypes that people kind of think are old school…its still the exact same way. If you see a black kid whether he has tattoos or whether he has baggy clothes or whatever a lot of people feel threatened…We are in a day and age were that should be completely over with…I still kind of go through that…I wrote that before the Mike Brown thing happened. With that its exactly what I was talking about.” Part 1 resumes with Wiz talking about the crucial role his Mother has played in his career and shares what he thinks are keys to being a great live performer.

Mya On Songwriting Process & Working With Pharrell [Video]

The D.C. native revealed that she doesn’t have a must-have list when it comes to songwriting, but says that she loves connecting with the other people she’s collaborating with while drinking a bottle of wine. After clarifying whether or not he actually calls Rick Ross by his production name “Mastermind,” Stalley expressed his gratitude for Ross & Dallas Martin of Atlantic for allowing him to Executive Producing & A&R’ing his 1st solo album, “OHIO.” “It was executive produced by me and him (Rick Ross). Also, I A&R’ed with Dallas Martin who is the A&R over at atlantic. It’s just been a blessing you know to have full control. Like, I really sat in the studio and digged through beat after beat.”
