Cypress Hill Speaks On Upcoming New Album, Legacy & More [Video]

While in Los Angeles for the Budweiser Made In America festival this year, we caught up with the legendary rap trio Cypress Hill. B. The group also spoke at length about their legacy in Hip-Hop which includes being the first Latino-American hip hop group to have platinum and multi-platinum albums. “We’re all very proud of our legacy that we’ve left in music, our imprint we left on the word, and we take it seriously, you know” said Sen Dog. “It’s a very special thing to be able to go to different countries and perform and have fans dig it.” The group also talks at length about a brand new album that is getting ready to drop in 2015, an album in which they reunite with one of the group’s founding members. “We’re back in the studio with DJ Muggs,” said B. Real. “We’ve been working on it for a while and it’s going to be a powerful album. It’s a very vibey, moody album like we are known for, but with a now sound. Updated with a couple of twists.”

Tanya Morgan – Rubber Souls Instrumentals [Beat Tape]

One year to the day ago, Brooklyn rap duo Tanya Morgan released their critically-acclaimed junior full-length, Rubber Souls. To celebrate the set’s first birthday, project producer 6th Sense has liberated the instrumentals, along with a bonus “sample mix,” for free streaming and download exclusively in The DJBooth. 6th had this to say about the project: “Here are the instrumentals to Tanya Morgan’s Rubber Soulsalbum, produced by myself, 6th Sense… These instrumentals are for free! The album is still available on iTunes for purchase, so if anyone hasn’t and would like to, the support would be greatly appreciated. The beats were created in a time period spanning the end of 2010 to the end of 2012. As a bonus, I put together a sample mix for those who enjoy those kind of things. A lot was said about this album having a sample-free sound and we worked with a ton of dope musicians to beef up the sound and give the album live instrumentation but sampling was still at the heart of it all. Truth be told, there’s more than 20 samples on the album. Most of them are ambiguous, but the art of sampling will always be in my blood. Hope ya’ll like it, it’s just a slight insight into my brain.”
