Talib Kweli Talks “Gravitas”, Being On Social Networks And Favoring The Ways Of Andre 3000, Eminem & Jay-Z [Video]

BIGVON introduces Talib Kweli to 106.1 KMEL’s VIP Lounge to talk about his new album “Gravitas” and new website KweliClub.com. The two also spoke about the progression of music including being able to now directly give music to fans, what he misses about old school hip-hop, interacting with his fan base, and social networks. With the trends ever changing on social media Talib explains why he created KweliClub “I have KweliClub because I wanted to make something that I own, that’s mine, that’s going to stand the test of time regardless of the trends on social media. I want for my fans to always be able to find me.” The Brooklyn born emcee also briefly spoke about an upcoming project with legendary producer 9th Wonder with the group tentatively titled “B.A.D. Build And Destroy Gang”. He says of it “the idea is that you have an album like ‘The Chronic’… there hasn’t been a conscious or thematically positive album that has struck a chord like ‘The Chronic’ and that’s what we are trying to create.” The album “Gravitas” is out now but be sure to check out his most recent video “Rare Portraits” featuring old footage of him, Mos Def, Jean Grae, J. Cole, and more. But the “Get By” rapper doesn’t stop there, be on the lookout for the next videos to be released “State Of Grace” and “Violations” featuring Raekwon.
