KRS-One, A.G. & Tragedy Khadafi – Modern Day Gangsta [Stream]

“Modern Day Gangsta” is a verbal threat, a written retaliation to the current state of corruption riddling broad levels of our systems of authority. This wake up call to the passive, launches with TRAGEDY KHADAFI drawing comparison between political domination and ruling in the streets, with the lyrical finesse of a veteran steeped in 30 years of Queensbridge history. KRS ONE returns as “The Teacha”, educating us on the infiltration of corporate America by gangster tacticians. A.G. (DITC) characterizes one of the numerous victims of police murder with a sombre hostility that draws a firm line in the pavement. Three of Hip Hop’s luminaries combine over baneful strings delivered in a landscape of energy by producer STRICKNINE (MF Grimm, Thirstin Howl, Blaq Poet) to re-establish a message that is more relevant now than ever before: “I think it’s time we all stand up”.

N.O.R.E. On Chinx’s Death: “The Hood Won’t Always Love You Back” [Video]

Soon after rapper Chinx was gunned down in Queens earlier this year, Meek Mill took to Twitter and proclaimed that the shooting was an example of why he doesn’t go to the hood. In light of the situation VladTV got Capone, Nore, and Tragedy Khadafi together to speak about the situation. Nore was the most vocal about Meek’s tweet and the shooting, saying that he agreed with Meek 100% on his statement and added that not everyone is going to show you love in the ‘hood. During the sit-down the “Nothin’” rapper also shared his own personal experience about going back to the ‘hood after becoming famous. The three entertainers also spoke about Bay Area rapper Kafani getting gunned down while shooting a diss video in his rival’s neighborhood, which you can hear more about in the above clip.

CNN & Tragedy Khadafi Speak On Rappers Being Leaders [Video]

Minister Louis Farrakhan appeared on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club in early June and proclaimed that rappers are the new leaders and should use their platform to help the Black community. “Our people want better and they’ll do better if they are shown better,” he stated. Capone-N-Noreaga & Tragedy Khadafi couldn’t agree more, and in this VladTV exclusive, the three emcees speak on how they and other rappers should go about doing so. “We gotta start being responsible to a certain extent,” Nore states, adding that rappers should include more conscious lyrics in their tracks. Tragedy Khadafi also feels that they shouldn’t be “mute, silent and weak” and speak on what’s going on the world. “You can use your voice outside of just getting money.” Capone agrees with them both. “That should be up to a rapper to put that in his next verse [or] interview,” he adds after speaking on the tragic Charleston church shootings. Capone believes Dylann Roof should face the same fate as the Boston bomber who was sentenced to death and says “it seems like when it comes to certain things like that, when they’re dealing with a certain race of people, they never wanna label it what it is.” Capone-N-Noreaga & Tragedy Khadafi also speak on the Baltimore riots and an unauthorized documentary about Jay Z that shows how the creation of the Barclays Center didn’t help the Brooklyn community. Hear more about it above.
