Little Simz & BADBADNOTGOOD – Our Conversations [Audio x Download]

From recording her debut album, A Curious Tale Of Trials + Persons, at the Red Bull Studios London in a month to releasing the album on her own label AGE 101: MUSIC to critical acclaim, Little Simz has had one hell of a year. To celebrate, the young UK emcee went to the Red Bull Studios in New York to record with the L.A.-by-way-of-Toronto collective BadBadNotGood. It’s a collaboration she has long dreamed of, and ‘Our Conversations’ makes you understand why. On paper, the two acts might be as far apart as the expanse of water between them. But when put together in a room, they complemented each other like peanut butter and jelly! Simz’ hard-hitting lyrics and edgy vocal tone merges marvellously with the modern-day jazz musings of BBNG, and out comes a new type of future-minded hip-hop music that’s grounded in age-old traditions of jamming and storytelling. The song is 20/20 of the Red Bull 20 Before 16 series – 20 days, 20 artists, 20 exclusive tracks to take you into 2016.

Little Simz – Don’t Forget [Audio]

“This year has been really crazy so far. I released my debut album + I’m just about to fly to South Africa to perform for the first time and shoot my next video. And this wouldn’t have been possible without you guys. So before I jump on this plane I just wanted to share something new with you guys. Me and my boy Hit-Boy linked up in LA this summer and cooked up a little something. So here you go. Oh… And Drop 5 is coming.” – Little Simz

On The Come Up: Little Simz [Video]

London rapper Little Simz shares thoughts on her growing North American fanbase and her conceptual debut album. Little Simz is only 21 years old, but she’s already a few projects deep and has released her official debut album A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons. She’s one of a few UK artists who have started to make major waves in North America in 2015, and in our new interview, she reveals that her American audience has now surpassed her following in the UK — quite an accomplishment, and a good indication that she’s getting bigger by the day. Simz also shared some details on the concept of her upcoming album, which she’s made an effort to keep as cohesive as possible — something she feels full lengths from her side of the pond have been lacking. “If you care about substance and content and messages — positive messages at that — then this is an album for you,” she said. The plans don’t stop there, as Simz revealed another project will follow (“I stay working”), as well as a tour, hopefully to top off 2016. For more on Simz check out our feature from earlier this year.

Little Simz – Age 101: Drop 4 [EP]

“Well here we go again. Welcome to the fourth instalment to the “Age 101″ EP Series. I cant lie, I struggle a bit when explaining the drops because as cliché as it sounds, its all in the music. But this one is a prelude to my debut LP (which I finished yesterday) and my favourite drop so far. Make sure you take time to take it all in. I appreciate and am thankful for those who support me on my journey, and enjoy bringing you new music, sorry i took long with this one, but live with it and and enjoy it. Album next.” – Little Simz AGE 101: DROP 4 by Little Simz

Little Simz – Is This Freedom? [Stream]

“This is basically the start of a brand new chapter for me. ‘AGE 101: DROP 4’ is the lead up to my debut album, basically the prelude to the LP. I’m currently on tour right now, just about to hop on a plane to Toronto, Canada for my debut headline shows in Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal, but wanted to give you an update on what my life is like now and the direction I’m taking musically this year. “Is This Freedom?” is produced by Prezident Jeff and OZ from Toronto and is just one of many songs I’ve been working on as of late. Enjoy the vibe. Age 101: Drop 4 coming soon yo!” – Little Simz
