Lex One – Wonder Jungle [Video]

Lex One gets cinematic in his new video, “Wonder Jungle,” taken from his 2016 released ‘Gold Plaque’ LP. The video finds the Miami artist teaming with frequent collaborator and director Alex Engel for a short film about the ups and downs that life can bring. “The video symbolizes life in a way,” Lex explains. “Sometimes it just grabs you, kidnaps you, leaves you in the middle of nowhere and you have to find your sh*t and start over.” True to his word, the artist depicts a young man who has all of those terrible things happen to him—and then some. Bits of the video play out like a horror movie, particularly those flashes of an apparent torture scene. But luckily our hero seems to make it out alive, though he’s got some notable bumps and bruises. Lex appears to eventually find his way—along with all of the items that had been stolen from him—but what’s up with that phone call he receives? Let’s just say that there’s absolutely room for a sequel to “Wonder Jungle,” which is the second Lex video directed by Engel. He previously worked on the captivating and trippy visuals for “My Own Worst Remedy,” which features his frequent collaborator, Third World Don (f/k/a Mike Beatz). Check out the visuals for “Wonder Jungle” and head over to the digital retailer or streaming platform of your choice to support Lex One’s ‘Gold Plaque’ LP which is available through his GTPS Music imprint.

Lex One feat. Hellz Poet – Let’s Get Lost [Video]

After recently releasing the single to critical acclaim, Miami artist Lex One reveals the animated, clever, and colorful new video for “Let’s Get Lost,” featuring singer-producer Hellz Poet. As anyone who has heard the track can attest, the two multi-talented artists crafted a seriously catchy banger with “Let’s Get Lost.” The song balances the concepts of lust and love over bouncy electronic production, which actually serves as the pulse of these eye-popping visuals. Super-talented visual artist GeD (peep his Instagram: @ged_kid) is the man behind the video, which features some slick editing work and even more impressive animation. Beyond the creative nods to Lex and Hellz’ lyrics and instrumentation, GeD pieced together some scenes that will have any video game fan feeling some instant nostalgia. Lex One feat. Hellz Poet – Lets Get Lost [Audio x Download]

Over the years, Miami-based renaissance man Lex One has proven that he’s not afraid to color outside the lines of Hip-Hop, as he often seamlessly integrates other genres into his sound. And on his latest single, “Let’s Get Lost,” he does exactly that by injecting the track with an infectious, electronic bounce. The track was crafted alongside the artist Hellz Poet, who provides the addictive hook and helped co-produced the bright and skillfully layered instrumental. Clearly, the two have a talent for collaborating, because Hellz’ sing-along chorus glides smoothly into Lex’s opening verse. And it’s there where the multi-talented Floridian digs into the song’s concept of embracing the moment, particularly when it comes to relationships. “Let’s Get Lost” and its two vocalists work as perfect complements to one another; Lex is all about action (aka sex anytime and anywhere) while Hellz wants the love interest to know that she is, in fact, loved. It’s an interesting dynamic for sure, and one that’ll hopefully lend itself to more collaborations between these two in the near future. “Let’s Get Lost” is now available for stream, and is available through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms, via GTPS Music.

Lex One feat. Lyve Kaos, PR$FIT, Mega, Mike Beatz & Lazee – GTPS Anthem [Audio x Download]

Miami artist Lex One brings together a thorough crew of emcees for the high-energy “GTPS ANTHEM,” a banger brimming with quotables, head-spinning flows, and everything else you’d want from a posse cut. The track also includes enough diversity to keep you so engaged that you won’t realize you’ve been listening to a track for six minutes (we’re an ADHD culture after all). Every rapper on here—Lex, Lyve Kaos, Pr$fit, Mega, Mike Beatz, and Lazee—brings his own unique flow and perspective. As a result, you’ll end up listening to “GTPS ANTHEM” repeatedly to make sure you catch every last punchline and metaphor. That’s particularly true of Mega’s verse, which finds the S.A.S. member (and former UK Dipset member) taking down culture vultures and anyone who doubts his skills. The posse cut is anchored by the Fort Lauderdale-based producer Chèvere, whose head nodding instrumental is the perfect backdrop. With its sped-up vocal sample and crisp percussion, it’ll leave you feeling nostalgic for the days when crews were cutting records like this more frequently. But hey, that’s just another reason why Lex is an artist you need to have on your radar. “GTPS ANTHEM” is now available for stream through all major streaming platforms!

Lex One – Real Life Story [Audio]

Following the success of his hilarious, over-the-top “Gettin Dough” video, Miami’s Lex One returns with some audio heat in the form of “Real Life Story.” It’s another standout joint off the rapper/producer’s great 2016 album, Gold Plaque, that’ll leave you rushing to hear the full record once the track’s over. Fellow Floridian Creole supplies the minimalist and hypnotizing production for Lex, who uses it to his advantage as soon as he hits the mic. The beat will leave your head nodding, but it’s the emcee’s vocals and lyrics that keep you engaged. As the track’s title implies, “Real Life Story” provides a look into the reality behind the boasts and brags of the music. Don’t get it twisted, though, because there’s some great bravado lingering within the raps here, including a slick nod to Busta Rhymes and FlipMode Squad. But Lex balances them with real-life insights and observations, even in subtle ways. Like in the first verse when he drops “I’m too manic” into a bar or later says, “All day I dream about, all the things I been without.” It’s a clever means of getting personal without becoming an open wound, and it also makes for one of Lex’s finest tracks to date. “Real Life Story” can now be streamed, and can be purchased for download along with the remaining tracks featured on Gold Plaque, which is now available through all major digital retailers, via GTPS.
