Long Beach crew Horseshoe Gang released their album “Anti-Trap Music” on April 29th, and within a week it entered the top 50 of iTunes’ charts in 15 countries. From it was the single “Shoe-icide Squad”, the group’s savage verbal attack on police brutality against the black community, delivered with a ferocity that drew many to compare it to NWA’s “F*ck The Police”. The appropriately raucous beat is courtesy of Danish production duo Tabu (Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Tech N9ne) Horseshoe Gang drop a new limited edition album “4 Brothers” in September, with CD versions of both releases available from Seven 13 Ent.

West coast crew Horseshoe Gang are back with a new single, the third taken from their album “Anti-Trap Music” which comes out April 29th on Seven13 Music & Entertainment at digital and physical outlets worldwide. In “Shoe-icide Squad” these lyrical marksmen use rhymes like bullets to address the increased number of young black men killed at the hands of the police. The evident rage in the delivery is understandable where black lives matter, and the neck breaking beat provided by Tabu (Kedrick Lamar, Aftermath) is the perfect backdrop with its classic G-Funk flavor. Funk Volume and Hopsin originally challenged and label or crew to a $500,000 battle on Sway In The Morning on Wednesday, August 19th. Hopsin mentioned that they would “demolish” Horseshoe Gang and KXNG CROOKED, which led to Horseshoe Gang firing back lyrically with “Half A Meal” on Saturday, August 22nd. The Hip-Hop industry waited almost a full week for a response from the Funk Volume general, and on Friday, August 28th, Hopsin and Dizzy Wright took to Twitter to take a few shots atHorseshoe Gang and KXNG CROOKED. After Hopsin and Dizzy Wright’s Twitter comments, Funk Volume released their diss record “Free Meal” on Friday, August 28th. Only a few hours after the Funk Volume diss track “Free Meal ” was released, Horseshoe Gang quickly hit the studio and bombed back on the Tabu produced cut “Same Day.”

On Wednesday, August 19th, Funk Volume (Hopsin, Dizzy Wright & Jarren Benton) took to the airwaves of Sway In The Morning to challenge ANY label to a $500,000 battle. During the interview segment, industry veteran Mike Trampe called in to the show. Once on the line, Sway asked him what he thought about the challenge and Mike immediately mentioned Horseshoe Gang and KXNG CROOKED. Jarren Benton was quick to say “Horseshoe Gang Hella Dope,” but Hopsin felt differently and replied “They (FV) would demolish anybody”, referring to Horseshoe Gang & KXNG CROOKED.
