Pusha T Talks Big Sean & Juicy J Record Sales [Video]

VIBE sat down with Pusha T backstage at Rock the Bells X where we asked him about the low hip-hop sales last week. Both Juicy J and Big Sean released new albums under heavy promotion, but while both made it into the Top Five on the Billboard 200 chart, neither broke 100,000 mark in sales. (In comparison, Jay Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail sold about 500,00 copies in its first week). “Everybody is not going to be prime to sell all the records in the world simply because the same amount of money isn’t put into everybody, and different projects and different labels have different priorities,” Pusha T tells VIBE. King Push says he’s currently spinning both LPs in the car and agrees that both rappers put out “quality work”. Push throws out some positive energy into the world. “You’re talking to somebody who sold a million records and who sold no records before, and I’m still here,” he says.

Common On “Cruel Winter”: “I Don’t Think It’s Gonna Happen” [Video]

VIBE caught up with Common backstage at Rock the Bells. We hadn’t talked to him in awhile so we picked things up right where we left off. Last winter, he told us that there was a slight possibility that G.O.O.D. Music would release a sequel to their debut label collaboration Cruel Summer, dubbed Cruel Winter. Then, rumors about Cruel Winter’s existence popped up again when CyHi The Prynce revealed that G.O.O.D. Music was “in negotiations with Def Jam” to release a second compilation by the end of 2013. But, according to Common that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Watch the interview above.

“They’re both part of my life in this whole music shit. It’s cool because you get the best of both worlds. You got both of these guys who are extremely super talented. I look at them like a reliable source to turn around and be like, ‘Aye listen to this or aye check this out,’ running it through their brains. I’m very hands on with my stuff. So it’s just really good having those guys around, man.” Previously: Hustle Gang – G.D.O.D. [Mixtape]
