Read morePosted up on the corner in his native Queens, slick-talkin’ rapper Eff Yoo is an animated lyrical pimp dishing out clever wordplay and bravado in his new video for “Alpha Mega.” It’s the third set of visuals off his recently released sophomore project, ‘The Eff Word,’ and his third portrayal of a specific character. In “The Eff Word,” he was a local tour guide for anyone who hasn’t visited his hometown, while “God Hates Me” found him playing out the life of a vengeful priest. And for “Alpha Mega,” he dons a mink coat and red fedora to look fly as he spits his verses over the smooth, sample-flipping instrumental from Rediculus. It’s not just his outfit that stands out, though, as Yoo’s bars are complemented by the work of artist, Edgar Zavala. So as the Queens rapper says he should get enshrined in granite sculptures when he dies, or that he’s sharper than a jagged spear, you see those images in their animated glory. “Alpha Mega” stems from Eff Yoo’s ‘The Eff Word’ LP, which is produced entirely by Rediculus. The eleven track effort is now available on compact disc, and can be downloaded through all major digital retailers, courtesy of Platformz Music.
Read moreWhether or not you’re a man or woman of God, we all face moments in our lives where we put our personal faith in question. That goes for whether it’s a particularly trying time or a situation where doing the wrong thing seems right. Either way, anyone can relate to the core feelings of Eff Yoo’s stirring new video, “God Hates Me,” featuring The Audible Doctor and Airon Azure. The story here is a chilling one that centers on a priest, portrayed by the Queens rapper, battling personal demons that stem from a decision to murder the man who killed someone close to him. Eff even goes so far as to kidnap the murderer (portrayed by The Audible Doctor), all the while riding around and questioning himself with Azure seemingly as his conscience. The video is directed by both Eff Yoo and NJ’s Skrewtape, a multi-talented artist who has previously worked with Mr. Green and Miilkbone. And here, he’s taken the message of “God Hates Me” and turned it into a suspense/horror short-film. ‘The Eff Word’ LP, which also boasts features from Big Noyd and Spit Gemz, is now available for stream and download through iTunes and all major digital retailers, and can be purchased on CD via Platformz Records.
Read moreProud Queens native Eff Yoo links with one of his hometown’s legends, Mobb Deep affiliate Big Noyd, for a bruising new single, “Indiscriminate Shots,” filled with verbal darts and gritty production. That’s Eff’s go-to producer, Rediculus, on the instrumental, which sets the tone for a track summed up quite perfectly by its title. The idea of taking shots at anyone who catches feelings is the mark of a tough-talker, and these two Queens rappers wear that badge with honor. Noyd’s opening verse is just as potent as it is menacing, as he dishes out bars like “Lyrics stay blazin’/ Ni**as stay hatin’/ So guns I keep aimin’” before passing the mic to Eff. He follows the O.G.’s lead with a slick reference to one of his best appearances (on Mobb Deep’s “Give Up The Goods”) and scowling raps of his own. Eff gets pretty damn creative with it, too, especially when threatening to smack the “fire out’cha mug and light a motherf*ckin’ blunt with it.” “Indiscriminate Shots” is taken from April 21st release of Eff Yoo’s ‘The Eff Word’ LP, and is now available for download off the iTunes’ pre-order link, via Platformz Records. In addition to Big Noyd, The Eff Word boasts features from The Audible Doctor, Spit Gemz and more.
Read moreOver the years, Queens has more than proven itself as a fertile breeding ground for Hip-Hop acts. It’s no surprise, then, that a rising artist from the borough would want to show love to his stomping grounds. That’s exactly what we have here with Eff Yoo’s colorful new video for ‘The Eff Word,’ the brassy title track off his forthcoming LP, produced entirely by Rediculus. The video, which is directed by TP Hoople (Diabolic and Tabs, among others), and animated by Emma Mulligan, features Eff welcoming the viewer with open arms through Q-Boro in between a flurry of equally flashy rhymes and visual effects. As the rapper moves from one bar to the next, you’ll surely pick up on his patterns as he focuses on specific letters (E, then F, and finally O) within each third of his verse. Through it all, Hooptie’s vision transforms an already-engaging track into a gripping, damn-near addictive set of visuals. ‘The Eff Word’ which includes guest features from Big Noyd, and The Audible Doctor, among others, will be available for download through all major digital retailers, and can be purchased on CD via Platformz Records on April 21st. Copies are now available for pre-order through iTunes, where the album titled single is available for download as project’s first ‘instant grat’ track.
