Boaz Relives His Spiritual Trip To Jamaica [Video]

In this exclusive interview with VladTV, Boaz talks Nas comparisons, working with Junior Reid and how his trip to Jamaica enlightened his spirit. The Pittsburgh rapper has called himself the Nas of his region and has also heard it from critics. Boaz says the comparisons to the hip-hop giant are humbling and he plans to keep working hard to prove the comparisons to be true. Boaz also talks about his single “How We Law” with Junior Reid and the making of the video. Boaz says while shooting the movie-like video in Kingston, Jamaica, he was able to see poverty in a whole other way. He explains how American poverty would be considered middle class to the some of the Kingston natives. Check out the rest of the interview above.

Boaz: “I Think Independent Labels Are The Best Route Today” [Video]

Boaz chopped it up with VladTV for an exclusive interview, and shared his thoughts on why he thinks independent labels are better for today’s market. He explains that a lot of artists are being “lost in the mainstream,” and Boaz says indie labels give you more freedom to be yourself. During the conversation Boaz also speaks about how he signed to Rostrum after having a great conversation with CEO Benjy Grinberg. The Pittsburgh native also adds that with all the talent coming out of the city, he believes the location could be the next Atlanta.

When it comes to the worst street situation he’s been in, the “Real Name, No Gimmicks” rapper doesn’t name a particular incident, but says he’s been in some life-and-death situations before.
