A Recap Of The BET Awards 2024 [Video]

BET marked a year of music and more at their 24th annual BET Awards.

Hosted by actress Taraji P. Henson, the event took place on Sunday, June 30, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, CA. Megan Thee Stallion opened the ceremony with a medley of songs including “Boa,” “Where Them Girls At,” and the hit “Hiss.”

Other female performers gracing the stage throughout the night included GloRilla, who brought Megan back out, as well as Latto, Sexxy Red, and Ice Spice.

The evening also featured performances by Victoria Monet, Will Smith, Tyla, and a rare appearance by Lauryn Hill, who joined her son YG Marley for a medley.

Usher received this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award and was honored with a tribute and performance from his peers, including Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, Chloe, Tinashe, Summer Walker, Coco Jones, Marsha Ambrosius, Victoria Monét, Teyana Taylor, and Latto.

Kendrick Lamar won Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Nicki Minaj was crowned Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, and Killer Mike took home Best Album with “Michael.”

Usher won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, while SZA received the award for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign were named Best Group, Lil Durk and J. Cole earned Best Collaboration for “All My Life,” and Tyla was awarded Best New Artist. Victoria Monet’s “On My Mama” won Best Music Video, and Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” received the Viewers Choice Award. The full list of winners can be found here.
