Nelly Furtado’s career, spanning 25 years and tens of millions of records sold, made it challenging to capture all her highlights in a single Tiny Desk concert.

Yet, she made a valiant effort: her set included many of her biggest hits (“Promiscuous”, “Say It Right”, “I’m Like A Bird”, “Maneater”), her remix of Missy Elliott’s “Get Ur Freak On”, and a brand-new single called “Love Bites”. In total, she performed 11 tracks, some in full and others as part of medleys.

For this performance, Furtado brought together eight of her favorite long-time collaborators, who helped recreate her dynamic, glitchy pop sound without using backing tracks. The ensemble featured a range of instruments, including violin, cowbell, beatboxing, and scratching by DJ Lil Jaz. Notably, Furtado and Lil Jaz share a daughter, Nevis, who served as the set’s creative director. The performance felt like a victory lap, greatest-hits reel, and homecoming all at once.
