Five Steez & Son Raw – Simple Man [Audio]

Five Steez and Son Raw return with “Simple Man”, the latest drop from their forthcoming “Re:DEFined” LP.

The breezy and relaxed roller diverges from the moody atmosphere of “New Kingston“, their previously released single. In this new offering, Five Steez reflects on both the daily joys and challenges of life. He delves into various topics, such as fond memories of playing sports, the consequences of broken relationships, and the difficulties of self-improvement. Through heartfelt lyrics, Five Steez captures the highs and lows of personal growth as an artist, offering a unique perspective from Kingston.

Complementing Five Steez’s delivery, Son Raw skillfully constructs a classic beat that features warm horns and resonant pianos. The addition of muted drums and subtle feedback contributes to the song’s dreamy and nostalgic vibe.

Five Steez explains, “I have a strong fondness for horns and anything with a jazzy feel. When I received this beat from Son Raw, it felt like the perfect backdrop for me to express myself freely, and that’s exactly what I did.”

Regarding the creation of the track, Son Raw shares, “While flipping through records, the moment I stumbled upon the sample, I immediately envisioned a scorching summer day in the city. It’s only fitting that the final track arrived just as the hot weather reached its peak. I love how Steez not only captures that energy with his lyrics, but also brings life lessons and reflections that give ‘Simple Man’ profound depth.”
