Black Thought talks childhood growing up in Philadelphia, what he learned from first jobs and breaks down his musical DNA including Rakim, Chuck D, LL, Big Daddy Kane, KRS and N.W.A. As the interview continues, Thought says that he wanted to be a visual artists before being a rapper and that his Mother’s passing fueled him to dedicate full time to being an artists. Music and art were Thoughts main outlets to deal with the passing of his Mom and Dad at a young age and now Thought is fueled by how his music is able to help others or inspired them. In episode 1, Black Thought also shares his creative process and memories of working with Big Pun on Super Lyrical.
