Pusha T On Set Interview w/ Complex [Video]

There’s no question that coke rap kingpin and G.O.O.D. Music president Pusha T is a rap Hall of Famer. But after a long and illustrious career that has partnered him with fellow greats like Pharrell Williams and Kanye West, the Virginia native is ready to set his sights beyond rap on an issue that feels even closer to home: America’s mass incarceration epidemic. In his December 2016/January 2017 Complex cover story, Pusha speaks with renowned author and Complex contributor Mychal Denzel Smith to chronicle his life and career from the past to present. In the story, he shares his thoughts on the current state of the rap game, his label’s newest protégé Desiigner, and his personal pursuit of prisoners’ rights in the U.S. Through his work with activists like Dream Hampton and initiatives like his #SchoolsNotPrisons Tour, Pusha is working to raise awareness of and make concrete impacts on the lives of the millions of disenfranchised Americans locked up today. Though many are familiar with Pusha’s grim accounts of the drug trade, his newest story is not one to miss. Make sure to buy your copy of the December 2016/January 2017 issue today!

Lin-Manuel Miranda – The Hamilton Mixtape [Album Stream]

Lin-Manuel Miranda has got to be the first Pulitzer Prize winner to drop a mixtape right? This companion piece to his acclaimed Broadway play Hamilton and it’s official soundtrack features contributions from such esteemed guests as Nas, The Roots, Chance The Rapper, Queen Latifah, !llmind, Joell Ortiz, Jill Scott and several others. I don’t know how well this will sound as a straight play through for people who haven’t seen the play or aren’t at all familiar, but it has certainly got some gems. You’ll definitely want to check out “Wrote My Way Out” with Nas and Dave East, as well as Chance The Rapper and Francis & The Lights take on the original soundtrack song “Dear Theodosia”. (via)
