Red Pill – Instinctive Drowning [Video]

From the album Red Pill “Instinctive Drowning” out August 26th on Mello Music Group. Red Pill says that he wanted the song and video, which shows him being ignored by guests at a party as if he was invisible, to “play on this idea that depression and substance abuse isn’t always easy to point out. Cries for help aren’t always obvious.” It’s not often the art we put out is as heavy as this. Red Pill, known for being filthy honest, has taken it to a new level and created something so intimate it hurts to watch knowing this is his life. Red Pill is more than an actor and this is more than a script – this is the baggage he carries. As a label all we can do is thank him for his honesty in art and shed a tear for one of the most heart wrenching lyrical displays we’ve ever heard. For all those going through the pain of addiction, loss, or anything else, we offer this merely to let you know there are so many out there who get it, who are living through it with you from a far.

Hus Kingpin – Wizard Of Dons [Audio]

For those who didn’t grow up listening to Mobb Deep and The Firm in a hoodie, jeans, and Timbs, we’re sorry. You missed out on that gully feeling that can’t be duplicated. The self-proclaimed Lord of the Wave, Hus Kingpin, is working on what he calls a movie musical, titled Lord Wavy. The first two episodes that we’re premiering can be seen down below. They take place in a lofty apartment space as Hus unwinds and lyrically “moonwalks over the fuck n*ggas.” The production from Spectacular Diagnostics and WIK are smoother than any bottle of whiskey.

J Dilla – Back To The Crib [Mixtape]

It’s already been a decade since J Dilla — the mercurial producer and rapper from Detroit — passed away and his posthumously completed album, “The Shining”, saw the light of day on BBE Records. As they prepare to release the project on 7″ for the first time, we’re extremely honoured to get our hands on a never-before-heard mixtape by the master himself. Made some time between mid-1999 and early 2000, it’s a fly-on-the-wall showing of what Jay Dee had blaring out of his speakers while on the sofa or by the MPC. Sink into your own couch and press play before ordering a copy of the re-release.
