Read moreShowcasing the super-melodic talents of vocalists Myke Bogan and The Last Artful, Dodgr, “Mornin Dew” is a blissful and mesmerizing new track seemingly made for lazy weekend mornings. It’s also one of the standout cuts from their collaborative and fittingly titled EP, Rare Treat, produced entirely by fellow Portlandian, Neill Von Tally. It’s Tally who sets the tone here, with his spaced-out backdrop slinking and grooving beneath his creative partners’ voices. It almost sounds as if his instrumental is moving in reverse, which only adds to the blunted nature of “Mornin Dew.” Even in its perpetual haze, the track hits you instantly and lodges itself into your brain through Bogan and Dodgr’s talents in the booth. And that goes for whether you can relate to his slick rhymes and wordplay like, “She said, ‘You showin’ yo’ ass’/ Well, help me pull my pants up”; or you’re just singing along to her infectious croon of “Wake up in the mornin’ dew-ooo-ooo!” Whatever the case, it’ll definitely leave you wondering what the hell the rest of Rare Treat sounds like (spoiler alert: it’s crazy good). “Mornin Dew” can now be streamed through either SoundCloud and AudioMack, while the trio’s EP, Rare Treat, is now available for stream and download through all major digital retailers.
