On The Come Up: RJ [Video]

Fresh off the release of his celebrated mixtape OMMIO 3, RJ has developed into one of Los Angeles’ most exciting artists. In an interview with HNHH, RJ discussed his early influences, which were predominately east coast rappers like Jay Z. “They was tearing stuff up.,” he said. “I gravitated to them because of the story they was telling. West Coast rap was getting a little mundane. But I’m glad we back!”

RJ explained that OMMIO stands for “On My Momma, I’m On” and describes what exactly it means to be “on.” He spoke on his commitment to a team mentality amidst the fierce competitive spirit that lives within every L.A. artist. RJ grew up with DJ Mustard and supported YG and Mustard on the “My Krazy Life Tour.” “It’s been the experience of a lifetime,” he said.
