Joey Fatts Tells His Inspirational Story, Freestyles Live & Rappers Who Claim They Gang Bang [Video]

Straight from Long Beach, California, Joey Fatts might have one of the most inspiring stories in rap music right now. Sleeping in his ’86 Chevy Camero early in his career, Fatts come up has seen him now open his own business and even cop a nice new BMW. The story gets deeper than that though as Fatts speaks on A$AP Yams being on of the most inspirational people in his life. Fatts reveals that his new mixtape “I’ll Call You Later” is named that because of his struggle following Yams’ death. Having a hard time getting back to people because he had so many thoughts going on in his head, Fatts opens up about taking time to really study the music and things going on around him. The subject matter on ICYL is dense, the track “Farrakhan” featuring Vince Staples takes the subject of violence head on. He states that people don’t really understand what him and Staples rap about. Really being from the streets where his mother carried automatic weapons, Fatts speaks on rappers that talk about gang life but have never really lived it.
