Step into the awkward genius of Verbal Kent’s mind memory machine as comedian Beth Stelling gets a complete look at a group of Chicago friends tripping on acid, enjoying nitric, drinking and smoking, all from the inside of Verbal Kent’s perspective. Director Peter Stepnoski captures all the oddity and charisma of Big VK on this ambitious visual for “Feel The Power” from Verbal Kent’s newest album “Anesthesia.” Verbal Kent says: “So, “Feel the Power” is a collection of stories presented in a sort of montage form, based on my life when I was a “younger” dude. We’ve all been “younger.” Growing up in Chicago, hanging out with good friends, trying stuff. Being ourselves, sort of finding our way. When discussing a video concept for the song, Peter, the director and I realized a great way to flash back and take viewers into my memories, was to literally do just that. In the video, Our main character played by comedian Beth Stelling is offered a tour of my mind and a look into a time of my life where I felt invincible. Jadakiss Talks “T5DOA” w/ HHS1987 [Video]

Hip-Hop legend Jadakiss is set to release his latest album, #T5DOA on November 20th and invited HHS1987’s own Oktane on the back of his tour bus to talk about the new body of work. Kiss touches on who influenced him to start rhyming, what it’s like working with Diddy again compared to the Bad Boy days and who would round out his top 10 favorite rappers of all time. Jadakiss then gets in depth and let’s us know what to expect from the new album and exactly what his mindset was as he put the project together. Before ending the interview, Jadakiss talks about hie recent break dancing video that went viral and even hints at a tour with his friend & Def Jam label Jeezy next year.

5 Under Five w/ Paul Wall & Slim Thug [Video]

15 years ago today Houston’s legendary DJ Screw passed away. The prolific producer, syrup sipper, and originator of the “chopped and screwed” remix died tragically died of a codeine overdose, but not before leaving an indelible mark on the sound of Texas hip hop. Just last week, H-Town rap icons Slim Thug and Paul Wall stopped by Mass Appeal to talk about their latest projects. Paul Wall recently released his new album Slab God (ever the hustler, he’s also pushing a new line of smoking wraps called Gold Leaf). Meanwhile, Slim Thug is in the process of dropping four albums this year, one of which includes his hit single “Chuuch” featuring Joel Osteen, in which the popular preacher states, “You can’t hang out with chickens and expect to soar with eagles.” Of course, we had to ask Paul Wall and Slim Thug to break down DJ Screw’s impact on the evolution of Houston rap.
