This Or That w/ Kidd Kidd [Video]

Kidd Kidd recently came by the studio, dropped a fire freestyle, and then stuck around to play a little game of “This or That.” If you’re unfamiliar the G-Unit rapper from New Orleans, who recently snagged the 10 spot on this year’s XXL Freshmen cover, now’s the time to get acquainted, as he graces us with one of the most entertaining segments yet. Among the topics we quiz him on are Pac vs. Biggie, “The Wire” vs. “Sopranos,” and boobs vs. booty, to which he gives an in-depth, informative response. He almost trolls us in choosing “Empire” over “Power,” but, in the end, sides with his boss’s show, saying “it separates what’s real and what’s commercial.”

Semix Hendrix (Ras Kass & Jack Splash) – Breakfast At Banksy’s [Video]

Semix Hendrix’ “Breakfast at Banksy’s” project drops October 16th. Pre-order here. Semi Hendrix is the acid inside the headband and the fork inside the electric socket. It’s hard-core hip-hop, furious voltage spiked with funk and soul. It’s political and street, cerebral and reckless. It’s Jack Splash and Ras Kass running roughshod over everything from economic inequality to racist government policy to your girl. The album title is Breakfast at Banksy’s. Consider it the rare soundtrack for the revolution and the party. The duo formed following Splash’s world tour with his underground cult funk band, Plantlife. Upon its conclusion, the 10-time Grammy-nominated producer and three-time winner decided to leave Miami in favor of Los Angeles. For the native Angeleno, this was where it all began. He’d seen incredible success over the previous decade, producing for Cee-Lo, Alicia Keys, Kendrick Lamar, and a slew of others. But he wanted to return to his roots and make a pure hip-hop album, a passion project with no input from industry types. “I decided that if I was going to make true art, then I needed to work with the best of the best…the Picasso of the West Coast,” says Splash. “And everyone who comes from LA knows that it doesn’t get any better than Ras Kass.”

Big Grams On Sway In The Morning [Video]

In an unlikely music matrimony, Big Boi of Outkast and indie-pop duo Phantogram come together for an album appropriately titled, Big Grams — and they stopped by Sway in the Morning to talk about it. The project includes dope collabs with Skrillex and Run the Jewels — unparalleled music that actually works! While in-studio they opened up about how they met each other, and why they decided to recruit dope unconventional producers on the project. Big also revealed his writing process, telling us he writes better during the day, and has a cut-off time — dropping his pen at midnight. He used to write without music, but now he caters to the beat. Sarah of Phantogram told us she starts with gibberish, securing the melody, as she writes. Interesting! Watch above for more.
