Niqle Nut – No Time [Video]

Niqle Nut releases a visual for “No Time” off his “Imperial” album. Niqle Nut’s story is one of overcoming adversity, beating the odds and turning hardship into success. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Niqle was infatuated with the Hip Hop culture from an early age. At the age of eleven, Niqle moved to Inglewood, California and was quickly assimilated into his surroundings by adopting the gangster lifestyle. After a near brush with death that left him confined to a wheel chair for two years, Niqle re-evaluated his life and found his calling in music. Now, after already appearing on projects such as the “Mick’s Tape” and “Mint Room” compilations, Niqle Nut has officially signed a deal with Treacherous C.O.B. (formerly known as Treacherous Records / C.O.B.). This up-and-coming rapper has quite a story to share and will deliver it to the world through his upcoming debut album called “Imperial”.

Zaytoven Says The “Migos Flow” Changed Rap Forever [Video]

Xavier Dotson, aka Zaytoven, recently chopped it up with VladTV and let us in on his relationship with the Migos and how their music style “changed rap forever.” “The Three 6 songs that I heard, they wasn’t really using that style,” says Zaytoven on Migos’ constant comparison to the legendary crew. “So when Migos was doing it, to me, it was just something brand new.” Zaytoven tells us that Gucci’s “So Icey” & Usher’s “Papers” are two of his biggest hits to this day, but Migos’ “Versace” became his most popular beat by far. After watching Migos’ video for their track “Bando,” Zaytoven felt he had to meet the guys, which he did at a OJ da Juiceman show some years ago. That night they were introduced to one another after Quavo stepped on his shoes, and the next day they were in the studio with a “boatload of beats” from the southern producer. Zaytoven also explains why Drake had him “smiling ear to ear,” as well as why the incarcerated Offset – who he feels brings “another element of the group” – was one of the reasons that he “fell in love” with them. Hear that plus more on Offset’s jail time above in this exclusive clip.

Elijah Blake – I Just Wanna… (Acoustic) [Video]

As we approach the release date for Elijah Blake’s debut album, “Shadows & Diamonds”, the talented singer/songwriter has been dropping off leaks from the album, along with an official remix of his lead single “I Just Wanna…,” featuring DeJ Loaf. After letting us hear “Drop Dead Beautiful” the other week as well as “Fading,” we’re returning to the original version of “I Just Wanna…”. We had Elijah come by the NYC office and do an acoustic performance of the song, which shows off just how strong his vocals are, untouched. The stripped down version of the song makes it feel a bit more personal and emotional. Watch above. “Shadows & Diamonds” is set for release on June 23rd. Stay tuned for our interview with Elijah as well, we couldn’t let him leave the office without asking a few questions.

F. Virtue – A Single Green Light [EP]

“A Single Green Light” challenges what’s expected to come from New York. Sonically it twists elements of vogue, house, and late 90’s indie rap, beneath an overarching aura of downtown after midnight. But lyrically it’s a concept driven record inspired by F. Virtue’s husband and The Great Gatsby. Themes include dissatisfaction, mortality, longing, hope, nightlife, love, America, wealth, and memory, all wrapped up into a symbollic 7 songs (his husbands lucky number) and 22 minutes (he and his husband met on a 22nd, and were married on a 22nd). It is self produced, and features no other rappers or producers. The sole physical release of this record is on a limited custom hydra-printed lanyard with USB key handloaded and numbered / 100. The lanyard contains the album in high quality .wav files, the instrumentals, digital liner notes, and the album’s digital .gif release cover, and is available exclusively through Manhattan’s La Petite Mort.
