DJ Ted Smooth: “Battle Rap Deserves It’s Own BET Hip Hop Award” [Video]

VladTV Battle Rap Journalist Michael Hughes caught up with DJ Tedsmooth on the red carpet at the Global Spin Awards for an exclusive interview. For those who didn’t know, Tedsmooth is a big Battle Rap fan, who greatly supports the Smack/URL movement. He gave praise to Smack, Beasley, and Norbes for the work that they’ve put in over the years to propel their brand and the sport as a whole to where it is now. Ted also recalled featuring the likes of Math Hoffa, Cortez and Murda Mook on the Cornerstone Mixtape #167. He named Charlie Clips and Goodz as some of his favorite battlers, and stated that he thinks that Battle Rap “absolutely” deserves its own award at the BET Hip Hop Awards.

Michael Bivins Talks Trey Songz, Chris Brown & New School Of R&B [Video]

New Edition member Michael Bivins attended the Global Spin Awards last night (11/18) and briefly chopped it up with VladTV about the new school of R&B and whether or not he has a favorite male vocalist, saying he doesn’t rely on the radio and wants to see and hear an act live before judging their talent. He says he recently hit up the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to see Trey Songz and Chris Brown, but can’t name a favorite singer just yet, as he’s waiting to hear a unique tone from these young vocalists.
