Joell Ortiz On Battling: “Nobody Would Beat Me” [Video]

Joell Ortiz spoke with Jenny Boom Boom about his interests in Battle Rap in this clip from his exclusive interview with VladTV. Joell shared his thoughts on the Total Slaughter battle between Hollow Da Don vs. Joe Budden, and how he thinks that Joe definitely beat Hollow lyrically, but lost due to his lack of performance. Joell thinks that Joe’s use of the microphone during the battle restricted him from being able to perform to the best of his ability. He also discussed his own interests in battling, and how he isn’t focusing on stepping into the lyrical ring anytime soon. Joell doesn’t feel a need to battle, nor does he think it’s necessary for him at this time; however, he did acknowledge that many fans want to see him show off his combative lyrical skills and that he’s also been offered high quantities of money to do it. If he does ever battle, he thinks that “nobody would be able to beat me.” He concluded by briefly addressing the battle between Keith Murray vs. Fredro Starr. Joell isn’t really interested in that match, and thinks that it honestly may turn into a fight because Keith Murray is “thorough.” Do you think Joell Ortiz would be victorious if he battles?

Kid Ink On Moving From Indie To A Major Label [Video]

Kid Ink sat down with VladTV and discussed his decision to start off his career independently, saying he wanted to be able to have creative control over his music, which is something major labels don’t usually allow an artist until they are a few albums in. When asked why move to a major when he’s had so much success as an independent artist, Ink says he feels there are certain career goals of his that he feels, at least at this point in time, he needs a major label to accomplish. Action Bronson: “I’m Not Palatable To White America” [Video]

Queens native Action Bronson sat down with VladTV correspondent Jenny Boom Boom where they discussed the plight of white rappers, him not being palatable to white America, and what NYC artists he’d take on his dream tour. When Jenny brings up the fact that it may be tougher for a white artist to make it as a rapper, Bronson disagrees, saying one of the biggest figures in rap and music overall is Eminem. Afrob & Megaloh – Abriss [Video]

The LOX On Being Legendary & Greatest Group Ever [Video]

VladTV correspondent Jenny Boom Boom sat down with Yonkers’ crew The Lox and talked whether or not they feel they’re legends, Bobby Shmurda’s come-up, and how they’ve maintained the group and their friendships when other hip-hop crews breakup on the regular. When called “legends,” Sheek Louch says he’s not sure he would consider himself one, because he views Hip-Hop vets like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane & KRS-One as legends. Styles P feels they are legends because they’ve accomplished so much over the years, and had a head start in the game, as they’re the same age as some of Hip-Hop’s biggest names yet dropped their first albums at a younger age. They also discussed getting older within Hip-Hop, saying rap is the only musical art form where hitting 40 is considered a bad thing. One young kid they show love to is Bobby Shmurda, saying they respect his hustle and like his song, “Hot N****.” The group also breaks down how they’ve been able to maintain their personal relationships and the group over so many years.
