Trick Daddy: “New Rappers Today Aren’t Authentic” [Video]

Trick Daddy sat down with VladTV to speak about current projects he’s working on, and used the chance to address the current hip hop culture. The Miami rapper says it’s hard for him to put out new music because there’s “no originality” in the industry these days. He adds that back in the day, rappers’ lyrics were somewhat believable in respect to their real lives, but says today all new rappers want to talk about is foreign cars, sleeping with other people’s women, and popping bottles. Trick Daddy says his struggle from the streets isn’t relatable to the newer cats in the industry, which throws him off. “I welcome new n*ggas to the game, but what is the game now?” he adds. Towards the end of the conversation the “I’m a Thug” rapper reveals that he’s currently working on a reality show that will highlight his adventures in cooking and being from the streets. He also says he’s focused on meeting new rappers with an identity, because he feels “Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter done gave these nothing a** n*ggas a voice.”
