Pharoahe Monch Talks Jamar’s White Rapper Comments [Video]

Pharoahe Monch shares his thoughts on Lord Jamar’s comments about white rappers being guests in the house of hip hop, explaining that he’s never put a color on hip hop. The “Simon Says” rapper adds that he understands the cultural side of hip-hop starting out as a black art form, but he doesn’t separate it into white and black. When asked if he would be surprised if rap was predominantly white in the future, much like rock being predominantly black and then white, Pharoahe Monch doesn’t hesitate to say that he wouldn’t be surprised. He explains that it’s a reflection of hip-hop expanding and others being influenced by it, which is why we have more white rappers now.
