J. Cole Reacts To “I Disappointed Nas” Track Title [Video]

On Wednesday (May 22nd), Dreamville/Roc Nation’s North Carolina hailing rap wunderkid J. Cole sat down with us and a select number of publications to give us a preview of his forthcoming album Born Sinner. Following the playback, word travelled like wildfire and rumours of a track dedicated to the reaction of rap veteran and J. Cole’s idol Nas, which according to much respected Hip Hop DJ Peter Rosenberg was ‘called something along the lines of “I Disappointed Nas”‘ and as is the nature of the internet that became the official title of the song on several blogs and web magazines. Well, during our interview with Jermaine last night (May 23rd), the subject of the info leak and reported title came up and Mr Cole World had a message he wanted us to share… @elliottwilson That’s why you are respected. Ludacris Talks Kanye, Acting, Twitter Quotes, “Ludaversal”, Ludacris Foundation [Video]

Exclusive interview with Ludacris. In part 2 Luda talks to Nick Huff Barili about his 8th studio album titled Ludaversal which he says will come out this year. Luda describes the transition into acting saying: “As a rapper people are always going to want to typecast you but its my duty to pick roles that people would not expect me to do….I want to be all over the scale so you can not put me in a box.” Luda says that he has not watched Kanye’s New Slave projections because his schedule has been so hectic but he thinks it marketing genius. Luda also addresses a story by DJ Whoo Kid who states that Luda was in the studio with Kanye before he got into his car accident in 2002. Luda says that he remembers Kanye rapping for him that night and being happy that he was ok after the accident and that he was going to dive into this hip hop game regardless of what happened. As the interview switches topics Luda shares the meaning behind several recent twitter quotes he has posted. First: “If you put off everything till you’re sure of it, you’ll never get anything done.” Luda say an example of this is when he got into music not being sure he was going to make it but knowing he had a love. Second:”Successful leaders see the opportunities in every difficulty rather than the difficulty in every opportunity.” You will have to watch the interview to

Dessa – Call Off Your Ghosts [Audio]

Off Dessa’s forthcoming album “Parts of Speech”, available on Doomtree Records 6/25/13. Purchase “Call Off Your Ghosts” now on iTunes. From its first track, Dessa’s new full-length ‘Parts of Speech’ (6.25.13, Doomtree Records) announces itself as something different. The Doomtree veteran and inveterate wordsmith — having proved her mettle in the fields of creative non-fiction, spoken-word and hip-hop — jettisons all genre expectations on “The Man I Knew” and croons a heartbreaking lament to a disintegrating relationship at an explosively-building clip. From this moment on Dessa — oft-described as “Mos Def plus Dorothy Parker” for the wit and flow shown off on previous solo albums ‘A Badly Broken Code’ and ‘Castor, The Twin’ — proves she has truly coalesced as an artist, transcending the restrictions of genre to reveal an astonishing multi-platform voice.
