Rich Kidd – In My Opinion [Mixtape]

I feel like the rap world is the forum where I can express myself, tell my story, drop jewels and talk my shit. This is an introduction for most and to some, a continuation of me being me: thoro, witty and crass. And I also get to represent a new generation of young Canadians who aren’t afraid to let you know where they’re from. This ain’t a balling ass, trapping ass, shoot em up record though it may contain elements of that from my perspective. All these niggas dropping music for the financially rich. This music is for the spiritually rich. I recorded most of this album in Toronto, at my crib, in my boxers and under the influence. Which means it’s personal. So you know, I probably dragged some songs out too long. Meh. Might have too many beat switches. I don’t care. Too many tracks? That’s cool. Fuck, I don’t like 2 minute songs and formulas. We’ll I like ’em but I don’t make ’em so enjoy this long ass 19-track project. This is a passion project. It just so happens to be the first album. I made it free because I love you. Oh, and I dedicate this album and especially the track ‘My City’ to Boston and every city experiencing mass tragedies. Bless.” – Rich Kidd Download: Rich Kidd – In My Opinion Tracklist 01. Cam’ron feat. Lil Wayne – Love To A Diplomat [Audio x Download]

“Who You Mad At? Me Or Yourself?” drops later today. Stay tuned! We saw the zone he got Action Bronson in for their recent release, “Live From Kissena Blvd,” and there’s a similar chemistry in the collabs with other artists on the tape. Records from the The LOX and Childish Gambino exist in the same grimy atmosphere. A$AP Rocky gets ambient and J. Cole gets introspective right before Uncle Murda and Maino take the project back to the streets. There’s a lot of different ideas and perspectives on the mixtape, and Flex effectively encompasses them all and molds his own vision of contemporary hip-hop. One record that especially stands out is “Love to a Diplomat,” a new joint effort from Cam’ron and Lil Wayne. It takes you back to a time in the mid-2000s when Weezy was actually claiming Dipset and churned out classics like “Suck It or Not” alongside Killa. We’re long removed from that era, but the duo’s creative connection is still intact. And stay tuned because Funk Flex will be executive producing a 5-track Dipset EP this summer. Listen to their new track from Flex’s tape below.
