Hit-Boy Talks “Backseat Freestyle” & More [Video]

Hit-Boy sat down with Q1047’s Rico and Mambo Morning Show to talk about producing for G.O.O.D Music, Kendrick Lamar, and his plans to work with Britney Spears. The Southern California producer has composed beats for some of the hottest hits in the last year including, G.O.O.D Music’s “Clique,” Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “N*** in Paris,” and A$AP Rocky’s “Goldie.” Now Hit-Boy reveals his favorite track he’s produced, “‘Backseat Freestyle’ by Kendrick Lamar. I’m so excited about what he’s doing for not only just the [West] coast but music in general. He’s making really great hip hop. I’m proud of that.” “Sometimes I can’t believe like I made this stuff man,” Hit-Boy shares how G.O.O.D.’s hit track “Clique” came to be, “We were in London, last January, me and Big Sean and just did this idea ‘Ain’t nobody f* with my clique.” Initially Kanye heard it and wasn’t as crazy about it, and he just kept revisiting it and we just beefed it up and turned it into this.” Hit-Boy also expressed his goals for 2013 including producing for Britney Spears. “What’s next is really just popping off my own thing with this rap stuff that I’m doing. Trying to build a label. I got Audio Push. I’m building my own brand HS87. This upcoming year I want to do full length projects, or do half of an album for like somebody like Britney Spears.” “I just feel like I have so much to offer. People are starting to get what I do and I feel like if I could just get to the point where I can do half of someone’s project people will understand what I’m able to bring to the game.”
