Big Boi Talks “Aquemini” Being His Album Of Maturity, N.W.A., Bob Marley, Kate Bush, Recording New Album In Canada & More [Audio]

Big Boi called in to the All Out Show’s Throwback Thursday segment today for Outkasts “Aquemini” album. He spoke to Rude Jude about creating the album and the idea of making timeless music. “We concocted a potion. It’s like you want to put it to where when people listen, in the first listen you’re not gonna get everything. You have to listen to it time and time again and you get to find different sounds, different meanings, different things. It goes the same for me when I listen to certain records, you want to be able to live with it.” When Jude asked about Big Boi about the sense of the maturity on the album, he responded, “I had just had a kid. I was 19 years old, my first baby. I was going through that fatherhood. You just kinda gotta grow up. Dre commended me all the time for being a man, taking my stance and just raising my daughter. I didn’t know I was going to be a father so young.. It’s about maturity, growth, and trying to find out what you’re put here for. And for me I was put here to make music”. When asked what he was listening to while making it, he said it could have been anything, including one of his favorite albums of all time “N****z 4 Life” by NWA or his two favorite artists of all time, Bob Marley and Kate Bush. He ended the conversation speaking on recording part of his upcoming album “Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumors” due November 13th, in
Canada.
