Tunji Ige – Another One Freestyle [Video]

Right after he stepped out of our booth and heard his recording, the Philly emcee/producer decided he wasn’t finished, hopping right back in for “Another One.” Earlier this month, while our brand new studio was being constructed at our NY offices, we decided to take our booth on the road, renting out 512 Studios in Austin, Texas for several days during SXSW. There we hosted an open studio session with our partners at Audiomack and Tunecore, extending an invitation to a handful of our favorite artists, from top tier names to some of the most buzzworthy up-and-comers, to slide through and record, all while documenting the entire experience. For those reades who kick in on the daily, you might remember that Tunji Ige kicked off our content from Austin a couple weeks ago with a dope, off-the-top “Austin Freestyle.” For everyone else, you’re in luck. Iamsu! – Compound [Video]

Iamsu! was in New York recently, promoting his new album, “KILT 3”, which dropped as a surprise in mid-March after months of teasing on ‘Su’s part. Suzy Sixspeed brought some of his HeartBreak Gang compadres along for the ride, and fans weren’t disappointed. Despite having just dropped a 12-song effort, Su was down to bring more heat when he stopped by our studio. He recorded a new joint over production from our Behind the Beat alum Ricky Racks, with co-production from D Shine. Skittering hi-hats and synth-heavy production is littered with spurts of bass, while Su lays on some auto-tune for the hook. It’s definitely a bit more trap-derived than Su’s typical sound, which would usually fall in line with his Richmond, CA upbringing.
