ChehadeTheKing catches up with Southside, C.E.O. of 808 Mafia, at the Canna Health Caregivers “CHC” in L.A. They reflect on Waka Flocka’s success, the talented producers on 808 Mafia, and even touch on the time they made the transition from swishers to backwoods. Southside speaks about developing his own strain. “I’m going to try to do five exclusive ones with other artists.” More recently, Southside has been working closely with big names in hip-hop like Kanye West and Big Sean. When asked which record he’s most proud of, the humble producer says, “I ain’t proud of nothin’ I ain’t did yet man. Sky’s the limit . . . we got a lot more to do.”

Metro Boomin & Southside Talk “DS2” & “What A Time To Be Alive” [Video]

HHS1987 continues to document the culture year after year, event after event, so it was no surprise we continued our hard work at this years’ 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta, Ga. HHS1987’s Eldorado was conducting live interviews on the Sprite green carpet outside of the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center. While on the 2015 BET Hip-Hop Awards green carpet, we caught up with super producers Metro Boomin and Southside to get a recap on their year so far. Metro Boomin spoke on his creative process while producing records for ‘DS2’ and ‘What A time To Be Alive’. Informing us that that some of the production was brand new for the most part but that a few were created in the past, Metro Boomin also gave us a little insight on his upcoming solo project he is currently working on. Before concluding the interview, we were joined but fellow super producer Southside who also has been creating hit records for Future over the past years. Southside hinted at a possible joint project with Metro Boomin and assured us that they play to kept heating up the streets and keep dropping hits for the culture. Watch the Hip Hop Awards this Tuesday October 13 at 8pm EST/ 7pm Central! Snoop Dogg was the host of this year’s award show, making it his third consecutive time hosting BET Hip Hop Award show.
