PJ is stepping out of the shadows and into her own during her interview with VladTV. The singer-songwriter spoke on her come up, which was no easy feat. As she made music for her Walking Around Pools EP, she worked as a bagger for Ralph’s grocery store. She finally quit after signing her deal with Atlantic Records. The L.A. native came up with the title of her EP after spending time outside her apartment’s pool. Since she was overwhelmed with work, music and the heat in the Valley, she was never able to sit back, relax and lounge at her neighborhood’s pool. The singer, who has written for Tyga and Wiz Khalifa, says she more than certain her time is now.

Emerging songwriter PJ recently sat down with VladTV and opened up about writing the hook to Chris Brown’s “Bitches N Marijuana.” The soulful writer details working with Chris Brown to create the hook, saying she wrote it from a male perspective and his final version is almost exactly the same as the version she created, with their voices and a few words being the only real difference. After singing her rendition of the hook for the track, PJ speaks more about songwriting. She credits B.o.B. and Meek Mill for influencing her to write from the male perspective. Although a novice when writing for men, PJ just “imagines what guys would say.” That imagination and creativity are serving her well. Check out the full clip to see everything she has to say.
