O.T. Genasis: “My Debut Album’s Gonna Drop This Year” [Video]

We caught up with O.T. Genasis over the All-Star weekend, where the “CoCo” rapper spoke about working with Chris Brown, Meek and Jeezy for the remixes to his hit song, plus what we can be expecting from the Cali rapper in the near future. On linking up with Meek Mill and Jeezy for Part 2 of “CoCo” and Chris Brown for Part 3, O.T. says they’re all his homies and it was great to work with them. “Everybody delivered and did their sh*t,” he adds with a chuckle. Speaking on what he’s got in the works, O.T. says another single will be dropping very soon, and we can expect to see his debut album release at some point this year. O.T. Genasis Explains How He Made “Coco” Single Kid-Friendly [Video]

Busta Rhymes’ protege, O.T. Genasis is on a roll with his breakthrough hit, “Coco.” The Conglomerate rapper sat down with DJ Smallz to talk about the success of the single, remixes to the track and how he responds to backlash over the single. The Cali native has been on the scene with Busta for some time, but his single, “Coco” helped push the rapper into viral fandom. With his original video to the song grabbing over 45 million views on YouTube, O.T. is more than happy about his success. Aside from rappers like Freddie Gibbs and the Golden State Warriors reacting to the song online, the 27-year-old has faced some backlash from the song. Genasis says he’s aware that a lot of children sing the song and has had no problem tweaking it for the Top 40 radio stations. The “Coco” rapper says he tells kids “coco” can be likened to the popular children’s cereal Cocoa Puffs.

O.T. Genasis On His Smash “CoCo” & Performing With Wiz Khalifa [Video]

O.T. Genasis sat down with VladTV and discussed his rise to fame, saying he can’t believe that his smash “CoCo” has taken off the way it has in only 4 weeks. He speaks of the night he learned Funkmaster Flex was showing him major love on NYC radio, a huge deal for a little-known artist from Long Beach, California. O.T. says he’s good friends with Cipha Sounds, which is likely how Flex got the record. He also speaks of being signed to Atlantic Records in partnership with Busta Rhymes’ label, Conglomerate, saying Busta saw him performing at an LA club during BET weekend and immediately wanted to know his label situation. They chopped it up as men first, and eventually decided to go into business together.
