Murs Talks Signing To Strange Music, “Have A Nice Life” & More [Video]

Since Murs released his last album, 2012’s Yumiko: Curse of the Merch Girl, a lot has changed for him, namely a move from a major label to an indie. Thankfully, though, his new album arrives two weeks after his label boss debuted at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100– no small feat for any indie artist. Murs’ Have A Nice Life drops this week on Tech N9ne’s Strange Music label, and recently, we got a chance to chop it up with him. In it, he offers a description of the album’s title: “Basically the duality of the term Have A Nice Life is, it could be a nice way of just wishing someone the best, or it could be a nice way of saying ‘Fuck outta my face’ without saying it. It’s something I’ve used with the police often, and people who fuck up my order at Chick Fil A.” Watch the full thing above, and let us know what you think.

While on the Wisconsin stop of The Special Effects Tour with Tech N9ne, Murs took time to conduct a phone interview with us for an update on his upcoming album “Have A Nice Life”. During the convo we talk his latest video for “No More Control” and how it reflects the social climate of recent weeks, how his creative process hasn’t changed since joining with Strange Music, his future plans on the imprint and what its like touring with Tech. Given his love for comics we felt inclined to ask his thoughts on Marvels newest movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and what he expects from the upcoming “Black Panther” film. To close it out he lets us know why he wouldn’t change his name if he were to become a superhero himself and closes with some words of wisdom for his fans.
