Read more“Blackmarket Seminar”, an album by Kazi and entirely produced by Madlib. The album was recorded in 1996 and now digitally remastered for its 2016 reissue. Guest features by MED, Wildchild and Declaime (Dudley Perkins). Kazi says the following: We recorded this album in the wee hours at CDP studios back in ‘96. It was pretty much me, Madlib and Declaime in the lab when this album was recorded. I learned so much from Lib cadence, rhyme patterns, timing and how to dig for records. What some people don’t know is this cat actually took the time to show me how to make beats. I must say working with Lib was an amazing experience. The “Blackmarket Seminar” is a very raw and dark album. We came up with “Black Market” because at the time we were doing Hip Hop that nobody else was doing and to us you could only get it on the “Black Market”. When you first play the album you’ll hear characters on a skit in search of the black market seminar. We really tried to make it seem like the characters were outside walking around looking for it. We recorded a new video for the song “To Be Lost” as it is about MCs selling out to remain in the game and still makes perfect sense in the present day. Watch the video for “To Be Lost” down bottom.

Read moreFlutes, Echoes, It’s All Happening! is the fourth in an ongoing series of highly collaborative records by Carlos Niño & Friends, and features Madlib, Kamasi Washington, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Iasos, Luis Pérez Ixoneztli, Dexter Story, and more! Los Angeles’ Carlos Niño is the exalted producer, composer, percussionist, DJ, ensemble orchestrator, and mentor who has traversed the multitude of music scenes the city has birthed within the last two decades. Host of the influential Spaceways Radio (1995-2015) on KPFK LA, his curation of playlists run in complete parallel to his original compositions and collaborations collected on this album: “Psychedelic Love Music and classic, obscure and experimental recordings from around the world!”. This is Space Collage Hybrid music! FEIAH was recorded in California – mostly in the greater Los Angeles are, with Iasos’ contributions coming from up North in Marin County. The material spans a number of years, through to March 2015. Carlos remarks on the material, “I rarely throw anything away, and in this case, a few pieces I’d started and archived were brought back to the forefront as they vibrationally matched with the project. There is overlap in space, time, and sound with these records”. A standout in the FEIAH album arch is from The Cosmic Band and Kamasi Washington, a one-of-a-kind orchestration by Niño as a final send-off performance captured live on his Spaceways Radio show March 22nd 2015. “It was a wonderful night! We opened with an improvisation where I read the names of almost everyone that had ever

Read moreWe wanted to make Madlib and Freddie Gibbs’ “Piñata” available for everyone that asked to use it in TV shows. So we asked the homey Alex Goose to run through the Now-Again catalog and remix it with samples from within. A year later and you probably heard some of the tunes as you were scanning the tube, maybe Alex’s “Shame” remix in Lebron James’ “Survivor’s Remorse.” Alex made a custom run of a few hundred hand made LP’s for Madlib Invazion, and we’re selling ’em here. He only made one, short run of these – and they took forever to make, so they won’t be repressed. When they’re gone, they’re gone. Hand stamped Stoughton “tip–on” LP sleeve sealed with a sticker, clear vinyl, includes Erin Garcia print and download card for vocal and instrumental album.
