Out of South Central, Los Angeles, one of the dopest up-and-coming MCs stopped by Sway in the Morning, DUBB, and blew us away with his new music. This is his third time on our show, and still captivates us with his music. This time, promoting his new project, Perfect Timing. In-studio he breaks down a few tracks and opens up about his upbringing. Sharing with us the time he was homeless, and how living in a Motel for a few years led him to writing, and eventually becoming a great artist. Late 2014, DUBB was making headlines about signing to West Coast rapper, The Game. But DUBB strongly clarifies — he never signed to him — and reveals to our Citizens what really went down with Game. From recording his first rap songs on a karaoke machine, to performing live on Sway in the Morning, watch below as DUBB hypnotizes with two new tracks LIVE, OTM (Out the Mud) and Middle America, featuring our R&B homies Jake&Papa.

Fresh off of celebrating his birthday while simultaneously releasing his latest project “Perfect Timing” hosted by DJ Skee & DJ Whoo Kid, L.A.’s own DUBB looks to reach the next level in the Hip-Hop psyche. Hailing from the Athens Park section of South Central, a neighborhood notorious for all of the ills often glorified in music and cinema, DUBB opts lace his musical palette with messages of hope and prosperity. Having passed through some of the most high profile platforms Hip-Hop culture has to offer, while also working with some of the industry’s biggest names, DUBB’s star is only rising. The Rapfest paid a visit to DUBB in his home turf for the first installment of their documentary series, Archives. With gang affiliations playing such an integral role in the lives of South Central’s youth, DUBB sees beyond the bloodshed, using his music as the light in the dark.
