Maino On “King Of Brooklyn”: ‘I’m Owning Who I Am’ [Video]

Maino opens up about his mixtape, “K.O.B.,” King of Brooklyn, which he says is just him “owning who I am.” He explains that he speaks for the underdog and is the voice of the people in the streets of Brooklyn, who he says directly relate to him. When fellow Brooklyn rapper Fabolous is brought up, Maino pays respect and praises Fabolous for having such a long and successful career. The “Hustle Hard” rapper adds that Fabolous is the only other Brooklyn artist that he can compete with in the music arena. When asked about Jay Z, Maino says “Jay Z’s the king of the world,” and says B.I.G. is always going to be looked at as a king. Speaking more about labeling himself a king as opposed to a prince, Maino says that he hasn’t felt backlash, because he’s cool with other Brooklyn artists. He adds that he would’ve hopped on another artist’s album if they named their project “King of Brooklyn,” because he feels secure with himself.
